Yes Corporatism needs to be fought. It can be as destructive as elitists like Obama and Trudeau, in fact they go hand in glove. Yes, conservatives can fall into that trap too and we need to hound them on it, vote them out, whatever. That stuff isn’t about ideology it is about disclosure of the conflicts of interest ( which the press is incompetent to do these days) and common sense.

I’ve been to South Africa. Listened to Blacks there describe what happened between Mulroney and Reagan and they are very grateful to both.

Reagan did not back Apartheid, he helped end it.

1) Left vs Right is entirely different from authoritarian vs libertarian ….

Libertarian + Leftist = Mahatma Gandhi
Libertarian + Rightist = Michael Badnarik (sorry, can’t find anyone more famous)
Authoritarian + Leftist = Joseph Stalin
Authoritarian + Rightist = Sarah Palin
2) Brian Mulroney was an outspoken opponent of Apartheid, true. But Margaret Thatcher resisted sanctions against South Africa, while Reagan asked the Israelis to supply the apartheid government with nuclear technology. Mulroney eventually got his way, but even after that there were close ties between the old Boer regime and the Reagan/Thatcher brigade.
3) Socialists may not in fact care about the average person but they’re SAYING they do and that’s enough in these uncertain times. Frankly, there is little record that socialism leads to universal prosperity in the long run, but the grossly unbalanced systems that have been passed off as “capitalism” over the past couple centuries have done far more damage (save for a few privileged classes). That is your uphill battle, and frankly your best response it to point out that was Reagan/Thatcher/Harris/etc was doing was not in fact real capitalism – it was plutocratic corporatism.

Lefties don’t care about social equality; they are elitists that want to rule us serfs, their slaves … just look at the dustbin of history.

Societies are not equal, why do so many immigrants come here? …To get away from their dysfunctional societies which have not sufficiently evolved, usually because they are hijacked by totalitarians.

I’m talking about societies not being equal. Humans are indeed equal, at least in the sense that people deserve an equal opportunity. But the outcomes are not equal. That’s diversity, that’s what makes it interesting.

In fact Mulroney ( not a lefty) got to Reagan and got him off the fence and that’s when Apartheid really started to implode when the full force of Washington got involved, thank goodness.

Sorry gentlemen, you’re going to have to try a better wind up than that. Being against Israel’s settlement policies does not make you anti-semitic – even a lot of Israelis don’t like them. One of my friends in the IDF likes to point out that these settlers are largely extremist Americans who accuse everyone -including most Israelis- of selling them out. They’re basically a cult.
Being against Republican holy war-mongering doesn’t make you anti-American – lots of Americans don’t care for it either. In typical extremist fashion, you’ve aligned your narrow geopolitical goals with large swaths of the population who are defined by birth/migration rather than ideology, which is of course exceedingly dishonest. You don’t speak for all Jews or all Americans, both groups having recently voted well to the left of your views.
And if you want to talk history, why don’t you talk about how Europe refused to give the Jews in their continent land in Europe. Those Jews were culturally European and knew Israel about as well as your average North American black knows Africa. Any long term ancestral ties are more figments of romance. Alas, Germany offered to ship their Jewish population to Madagascar rather than carve out a bit of their own land to make the separation. So you’ve dumped your “problem” on the middle east, didn’t give them their belongings back and now you consider yourselves good humans beings for helping them crush another group of people. Can you say “hypocrite”?
And your communist line is getting really tried. I have no problem with the market, but I’ll fight any of your social stratifications and hierarchies to the bitter end so get used to it. If only leftists care about social equality then I guess I’ll be fighting with them. Kind of a bad reflection on you guys, since many of you consider yourselves “libertarians” (hence supposedly devoid of collective identity)

Obama has taken the very dangerous step of elevating and validating the idea of a new Muslim caliphate. Hard to believe such a smart guy would not see that.

Given your views on Israel it is no wonder you view the survival and success of the state of Israel as “produced very little”

Is there a specific “attack” on Jeremiah Wright you are talking about, or are you just stereotyping me?

Also curious that you chose to ignore the concepts of Al-Takeyya and Hudna.

Take a look at a map of the Middle East and see the size of Israel and compare it to the surrounding (mostly hostile) countries.

A little history….
In November 1947 United Nations decided on partition of Palestine into a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-administered Jerusalem. Partition was accepted by Zionist leaders but rejected by Arab leaders leading to the 1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine. Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948 and neighboring Arab states attacked the next day. And the battle continues.

When you are surrounded by your enemies who have perpetually threatened to eliminate you, you tend to get somewhat defensive.

Hey Cynapse….maybe Egypt has some land for those peaceful Palestinians. Any land or assets that have been handed over to them have been ruined by the Palestinians themselves. Sort of like what happened when the Bolsheviks took over Russia. No wonder Cynapse supports the Palestinian side. Birds of a feather.
