UNITED NATIONS — Canada told the United Nations on Tuesday that more than half of the 68 recommendations other countries say will improve Canadian human rights standards cannot be fully accepted.
In an address to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Canada rejected outright 14 of the recommendations, and partially rejected another 22.
In Ottawa, human rights activist groups expressed “disappointment” at Canada’s response to the council’s first pier review of Canada, which took place earlier this year.
The rejected or partially rejected recommendations touch on a range of issues, including racial discrimination, aboriginal rights, fighting poverty, and seeking clemency for Canadians facing the death penalty overseas.
The so-called Universal Periodic Review is the way the council, launched in 2006 to replace the discredited Human Rights Commission, assesses the respective human rights records of all 192 UN member states.
Many of the recommendations Canada rejected came from countries that themselves have questionable human rights records.

We need to hear from Michael Ignatieff, human rights expert, on his assessment of these recommendations, given the source countries’ own to date records. And will he “choose his words very carefully” on answering as he is so often says. Canada’s decisive position on this file is to be noted and appreciated. Its practical applications is what stands out.
From the horse’s mouth, we have Warren Kinsella basically declaring that the Liberals have mercifully passed their ‘best before date.’ Nervous Nellie Warren heaps tons of help on the Conservative prospects with these ten points he makes. He’s basically pointing out how Stephen Harper and cabinet are successfully navigating the economic mess in Canada and that an election is advisable now before the Cons make a home run when the recession lifts. However, he fails to mention as was reported how Ignatieff is expected to do a book tour in Britain this summer, so why would he interrupt the man’s plan with an election campaign? Link below:

And notice, how Kinsella points out money is no object for the Liberals at this time. And how much gold is missing from the mint?
Thought I’d bring this to everyone’s attention. Didn’t exactly know where to register the link, but under the Human Rights report.
How about Canada just rejecting the entire UN?
