gas_thumbDetroit — The leader of a leading biofuel innovation firm thinks keeping the internal combustion engine on America’s roads is the best way to address the nation’s energy crunch.

“Our ambition is to literally put gasoline in the tank, but it’s gas without petroleum,” said Dr. Alan Shaw, president and chief executive of Silicon Valley-based Codexis Inc. at a technology panel hosted by the National Summit, the Detroit Economic Club-sponsored event being held this week at the Renaissance Center. “It’ll keep the internal combustion engine on the road, which is a good thing.

Shaw joined three other alternative energy and conservation gurus for a panel discussion on the future of clean technology innovation as part of the National Summit, which is bringing together high-ranking executives from across the country.

Notes:

Agreed regarding the engine but I do not agree with everything else.  Switch all engines to natural gas and we have a winner.  Also, the same thing was done years ago.  I know about that because I’ve driven the cruisers that were powered in that fashion “way back when”.

Just don’t get into a high speed chase.  I know about that too.
