… well … I’d still like to believe that it would be nice to have some voices in parliament besides the large and well-moneyed ones who set up a false “A vs B” view of policy-making. Unfortunately, Israel and the EU have managed to prove that proportional representation does little more than hand the balance of power to crackpots and extremists.

Maybe the answer is to make one level of legislation party-free?

Oh Mac, these guys make the Reform Party look like limp-wristed liberals. They’re basically a whites-only, anti-immigration (even Polish) nazi-affiliated party with left-wing economics and right-wing social policies. Their leader, Nick Griffin, is a known holocaust denier.

They certainly aren’t the smartest ones – one day they accidentally hired a black DJ for a party, with their excuse being “he sounded white on the phone”. Another time, they leaked their secret membership list, outing all kinds of reluctant Britons all the way up to Buckingham palace.

To be fair to Britons, the BNP received fewer votes than last time. However, Labour’s support (predictably) went way down so the BNP had enough proportional representation to get a seat.

I’m more curious than anything else. Are the Equality and Human Rights Commission something like our HRCs? If so, were they responding to a complaint or ?? Who are the BNP and what are their policies?

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but the social safety net ain’t what it used to be.

Of course, the BNP has a problem now … Can’t stay true to their white supremacist roots and have colored on the dole at the same time. They may have to take some tips from Jesse Helms.
