What A Mess! (4)

jackson1_thumbUpdated at 1:30 p.m.: A representative of Colony Capital, the private equity firm that owns Neverland Ranch, approached Santa Barbara County officials about burying Michael Jackson at the site, an attorney for the county confirmed. Officials researched the request and found that the bureaucratic hurdles on the state and local level for interment on property that wasn’t designated a cemetery were extensive.

“We have not seen [such a burial] in recent decades,” the county lawyer, Michael Ghizzoni, said. “Based on our contacts with the state, we think it would be a process of months, not weeks.”

Funeral arrangements for Michael Jackson are still in flux, but one thing is clear: The pop icon will not be buried at Neverland Ranch.

Jackson’s family wanted him interred at the Santa Barbara County estate, the site of some of the happiest and saddest times in his life, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger had agreed to help clear any state bureaucratic hurdles, a source close to the situation told The Times.

But in the end, the source said, county officials could not find a way to quickly circumvent legal restrictions governing burial at a private residence.

“It’s nobody’s fault. Everybody in Santa Barbara feels bad about it,” the source said.

3:38 pm EDT, July 2nd, 2009 — At Neverland, quiet respects amid a circus

Notes:

As all know who visit this site I’ve been trying to avoid this news story like the plague but it is not to be.  In truth I’ve never seen a circus like this in my life and one would have to be deaf and blind not to know about it.  And it’s going to go on for months.

There’s one good thing that has come out of it.

Obama has been blown right off the front pages and he’ll be awhile before he returns.

I feel sorry for the kids, imagine listening to tv or radio or seeing a newspaper or mag and discovering that perhaps your father is not your father, or your mother is not your mother.  Have they not done dna testing.   Obama should be happy with all the jobs this is creating, for lawyers, accountants, reporters, writers, and wannabe experts.  I agree, this will go on for years.   I hope some doctors to the stars get punished, if they prescribe drugs for one, how many others are out there.  And I hope those that got him the drugs under their name get charged.
I am also surprised they are going to eventually bury him, I thought he would be frozen, on permanent display.

I wonder what the carbon footprint is regarding all the events related Michael Jackson’s death.   Funny you don’t hear any of the AGW troofers concerned about how much carbon dioxide is being pumped into the atmosphere because of our societal obsessions with eccentric celebrities and their sudden demise.

Ok, enough!  This has been going on for a week – lets move on.  Michael Jackson was a world famous pop entertainer – he lived a life of excess and weirdness.  He had talent,  a toxic relationship with his father, his sexuality was ambiguous, his children conceived under unusal circumstances, his fortune  squandered, etc. etc. etc.  This voyeurism of the man’s life and acquaintances is nauseating.  Enough!  Jack, I know you have avoided this subject and my venting is directed to those news sources who have revelled in this death.  Everytime I turn on the tv, radio, internet or read a newspaper its Michael Jackson 24/7.  Bury the man already!  Lets get back to reality,  to topics and issues that will make a difference in my life and the life of the world.  Cheers.

Dear Cynapse:  You really know how to make a depressing subject more so!  These “authors” wil not get a plug nickel out of this consumer.  I regret his untimely death and wish the media and hangers-on would have concentrated on his music, talent and showmanship.  He was amazing.  But the gory details are ghoulish.  I had hoped to get up this morning and not be confronted by another Michael Jackson twist.  Thanks for ruining my day (irony intended – next thing you know I will be humming Billy Jean).  Cheers.
