Lane: A friendly suggestion (1)
Since everybody else is piling on, let me add my own comment to the fray. If you were one of the people who participated in that Vanity Fair hit piece, and we find out your name, you will be a net drag on any national campaign for the rest of your professional career. Not because you helped the Left go after Governor Palin, but because you are an untrustworthy sneak who is dedicated to propping up the elitist system in DC, not fixing it. Any candidate that hires you will have to overcome the base’s natural reluctance to work with a campaign that would hire someone like you. This can be done; but it’s much easier to hire people with your skill set and a name for basic party loyalty.
If you are a McCain staffer who did not talk to VF, I suggest that you find some way to demonstrate that you aren’t one of the people in the first paragraph. Because until we know who talked, the default assumption is going to be that you may have talked. This will not wreck your career, but it will blight it if the base has anything to say about it. On the bright side, a simple and declarative denial will do; of course, if your denial is a lie and we catch you at it, brush up on your typing skills.

Male, retired and the rest is of little interest to anyone. The site keeps me busy and if it helps others to stay abreast of daily events then my time is well spent.

This is really quite a comical situation. The Dems are in continual attack mode to destroy Sarah, even though they claim she poses no threat. Even long time ‘legends in their own minds’ Republicans have circled the wagons in self defense against Sarah but the idiots have got their guns pointing inwards. Sarah hasn’t got a chance in 2012 say people on both sides but their conduct betrays their true belief. 2011 is going to be a very interesting year.

Yes but it does keep her in the public mind way after the 15 minutes of fame thing and if she can correct a few things that caused her problems in the campaign, like seeming clueless about international affairs or ” ignorant ‘ about issues the MSM thought where important to know about, mostly what the media obsesses about or thinks is important ( trivia ! ), I think she might become a good candidate and actually a competent potential President.
She does share a lot of the ignorance of general knowledge: Historical, geographical and scientific that a large percentage of the U.S. population also don’t have, due in part to the abysmal quality of the MSM more concerned with Entertainment Tonight or TMZ type stories than any real news in depth ! Our Canadian media is much better dealing with international affairs in spite of it’s own flaws.
Palin seems to me to be a popular and competent Governor of Alaska and a lot of criticism of her is basically that Washington, New York, Los Angeles based media portray her as a ” hick “.
If I was her I would get up to speed about international affairs, financial theories, general knowledge and find experts to fill in any knowledge gaps she might have i.e. identify and learn what a competent leader of the U.S. A. should know and at least to the level of being able to make good decisions among the advice given by experts in each relevant field.
Oh, and finding good political advisors but not ” handlers “: Someone with ideas, judgement and ethics doesn’t need handlers but they do need good information on which to base their proposed policies and someone to walk in front of them to detect P.R. landmines before they step in it ! In any case, an empty suit winning the Presidency is not very good for anyone and it’s better to loose with a good candidate than win with someone who is just a puppet of ” handlers ” or the Party machine that will end up doing more harm than any good one was hoping for !
