The Longest Year

The Longest Year
RCMP Corp. Cameron McFarlane’s year spent training local police officers in Afghanistan was filled with hope, tragedy and the constant threat of danger.
So when the veteran Mountie emerged through the arrival gates at Pearson International Airport after a long flight home from Kandahar yesterday, he realized just how fortunate he was to be back home with his loved ones in Cobourg this Canada Day.
“It’s great to be back in Canada,” said McFarlane, 55, as he was embraced by wife, Faye, 59, and daughter Lauren, 24.
“It’s been a long, hot, dusty year but I’m certainly looking forward to being with my family.”
Waving Canadian flags and hoisting home-made signs, a small crowd of friends and relatives, including McFarlane’s elderly, wheelchair-bound mom Mary, travelled from Cobourg to give McFarlane a hero’s welcome.

Male, retired and the rest is of little interest to anyone. The site keeps me busy and if it helps others to stay abreast of daily events then my time is well spent.

The Mounties haven’t had much “good” press for a while. It’s nice to read this one… Welcome home, Corporal McFarlane, and thank you for your service!!

I’m pleased Mac is back here again. With the template changeover and a few problems I’ve been working through most of my writers have been cut off. That will change soon as I bring Bruce, StageLeft and a new writer that some have come to know as SOR. Sandy and Cynapse are already in the mill.
What I need to do before I give them access is prepare an “instructions for use” MS Word document that will explain and show how to use the new template. As soon as it is ready the remainder will be brought online.
Changing templates is not as simple as changing your underwear and it’s still a work in progress.

Instructions complete. Further info on the way shortly to the people concerned. Right now my daughter needs my computer for the next 6 hours so the info will go out tomorrow.
