Ignatieff and PM square off
The big guns in the Liberal and Conservative parties rode into the Calgary Stampede on Saturday, but there was no showdown, only a shoot-out of words that rang out hours apart.
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff got off the first volley in front of about 700 at a Stampede breakfast.
He blasted Prime Minister Stephen Harper for negative attack ads and said the Liberals are a solid alternative for people fed up with the way the Tories are running the country.
The government needs to act on its stimulus package, get public finances under control and figure out a way to supply medical isotopes to everyone in Canada who needs a test or treatment, Mr. Ignatieff said.
Mr. Harper unleashed his shots at a Stampede barbecue later Saturday evening among 800 party faithful.
He promised his Conservative government won’t be pressured into making bad choices by other political parties.

So anything, absolutely anything the Conservatives produce to inform Canadians about the ‘shortcomings’ of the Liberal leader or the party are attack ads? The Liberals can’t defend the message so they try to con the public by shooting the messenger.

Did Ignegatif mention he wants to build a pipeline from somewhere in Alberta to somewhere in Ontario so we can refine oil that gives a bigger yield than 4 liters to the gallon again ?

It’s “un-Canadian” to offend a Liberal, it’s in the Charter.

Iggy’s struggling to find an issue. Perhaps it was premature to dismiss Dion out of hand – maybe the party as a whole is running on empty, since if anyone could think of a good angle it should be an academic like Mr. Ignatieff.
Or perhaps it’s just that Iggy has spent so long outside the country he forgot that Canadians generally vote a party out rather than in. Had he known that, he’d probably be working on attracting more money from the grassroots and rebuilding internally so that his party is actually ready for when the voters turn on Harper.

Perhaps Count Iggy’s like a dog chasing a car? Once he caught the leadership of the Natural Ruling Party, he doesn’t know what to do with it.
