Passing unread laws

pelosi_thumbThis weekend’s Fourth of July festivities celebrated the birth of representative government in America. As the Declaration of Independence set forth 233 years ago, our government derives its power from the consent of the governed. Such consent does not exist when legislation is purposely rammed through Congress so quickly that congressmen — let alone citizens — do not have time even to read it.

Welcome to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s House of Representatives. The “people’s House” is now a place where bills are voted on not only before legislators or the public have read them, but also before parts of the bills even have been written. Such was the case with a 300-page amendment to the cap-and-trade bill the House passed on June 26. The House leadership could not even produce this amendment on paper, in final form, before it was voted on.

In response to that and other recent outrageous infringements of real representative democracy, a group called Let Freedom Ring is pushing all 435 members of Congress and 100 senators to sign a pledge against such shenanigans on any health care reform bill Congress considers.

All 535 of them ought to do so.

The writing is on the wall.  They have to change their system to safeguard against these glaring shortcomings.  Why not a parliamentary system like we have in Canada?

They also passed the porkulus stimulus bill without reading it as well.

How very democratic of them, eh?  Like crows in a Macdonald’s garbage bin, the dems are like since getting power.  They can’t control themselves.

But in doing so they are pissing a lot of people off who didn’t vote for the crap they’re trying to pull.

On the other hand, Ignatieff may have to reconsider the photo ops with Obama to make him look good. The Dems will ensure they are a one term event.  problem is they will ruin the US for generations to come. HOPEFULLY, Canadians will take note and remember what libs have done in the US the next time we have an election.

What the left has done in the U.S. pales in comparison so far to what the right has done under Bush Jr.  ‘Mission accomplished’ especially all those Iraqi’s & American soldiers  killed during the so called liberation of their country.  Whats the cost to America for this war, one trillion dollars and climbing?

Take out the overflow from the Bush administration and Obama’s spending on his OWN initiatives is quite low.  After all, you can’t stop wars overnight.

Like Bush pulling his troops out of Afghanistan before the job was done and now Obama has to sent troops back to make up for Bush’s early with drawal from  that sad/dangerous country.
What did Bush once say “America is not in the business of nation building” or something like that.  He’s sure  good at being a stand-up comedian.

The conduct of the Obama cartel since they took over unconscionable and that’s the nicest way I can put it.  Americans should be outraged but they aren’t.  Give them time though, they will be when they realize that that thrill they get running down their leg when see or hear Obama has got nothing to do with him, in reality it is a warning sign of an impending stroke.

UV, I think the lesson here is as follows:

Billions of dollars to help poor locals = waste
Billions of dollars to kill poor foreigners = not cutting and running

Obama’s got a long way to go before he surpasses Reagan’s deficit on his own accord.  When that happens (about 14 months), we’ll evaluate again.  Until that time, this griping sounds more related to how the money is being spent.  Volume certainly hasn’t been an issue over the last few decades.

Ahh yes Cynapse its all about the children, each and every one of which will be about 100,000 dollars deeper in debt when they are born if Obama has his way, and that much more dependent on government largesse as well.

Obama has no real interest in helping anything or anyone other than fullfilling every far leftists wet dreams.

Bareknuckle ham fisted Chicago Politics at its finest.  Better not anyone get in his way, or else.

Bush isn’t President anymore.  Quit making excuses.

So you claim, yet he received overwhelming support from all the sectors of the population that the GOP ignores / mistreats  / locks their doors upon visual confirmation.  Are all of these people wrong?

And what is this leftist agenda?  It’s the “show-stopping” accusation that is never properly defined.

One more quick note about deficits – they don’t evaporate once the president disappears.  Bush will be with us for quite some time.  You’ll become quite familiar with this concept when President Gingrich/Palin/Jindal/etc speaks the oath and the US doesn’t suddenly return to surplus.

Come’on UV, enough of what happened yesterday.  Let’s all take good hard look at what’s happening today.  How long will some blame Bush for literally everything, 10, 30 50 years until all the hate has died off?  Oh well, at least in 50 years there’ll still be enough 20ish voters left alive from today who will hate Obama for what he is doing and will have done.

Oh well, Obama can always move to Canada if he loses popularity in the states  as hes still very popular up here, even more so than the other American Citizen who came up here to be King of Kanada, Count Iggy.
And whats happening today as you state  is a direct result of what Bush did yesterday and for many days to come. What a mess!

With apologies to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice:

    Evita Lyrics
“Evita And The Money Kept Rolling In lyrics”

    [Obama:]
And the money kept rolling in from every side
Pelosi’s pretty hands reached out and they reached wide
Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But saving the planet’s not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling in, you don’t ask how
Think of all the people guaranteed a good time now
Gore’s called the hungry Greens to her, open up the doors
Never been a fund like the Waxman-Markey Bill
    [Chorus:]
    [Greenies:]
Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, rollin’ rollin’ rollin’
Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, rollin’ rollin’ rollin’
Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, rollin’ rollin’ rollin’
Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, rollin’ rollin’ rollin’
Rollin’ on in, rollin’ on in
Rollin’ on in, rollin’ on in
    On in
    [Obama:]
Would you like to try forced Green re-educations?
Plant your windfarms with guaranteed monetary generation?
Waxman-Markey and their blessed fund can make your dreams come true
Here’s all you have to do my friends
Write your name and your dream on a card or a pad or a ticket
Throw it high in the air and should our lady pick it
She will change your way of life for a week or even two
Name me anyone who cares as much as House Speaker Pelosi
    [chorus]
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
    On out
    [Obama:]
And the money kept rolling out in all directions
To the weak and intermittent, to the destitute of all Green foundations
Now cynics claim a little of the cash has gone astray
But that’s not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling out you don’t keep books
You can tell you’ve done well by the happy grateful looks
Engineers only slow things down, facts and figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as House Speaker Pelosi
    [chorus]
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
    On out
    [Obama:]
    Pelosi!!!
When the money keeps rolling out you don’t keep books
You can tell you’ve done well by the happy grateful looks
Engineers only slow things down, facts and figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as House Speaker Pelosi
    [chorus]
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
Rollin’ on out, rollin’ on out
    On out

Well, cutting and pasting doesn’t take that long, Jack.  As far as singing goes, hmmm … only if it’s to Congress, and only with the doors shut with no hope of escape.  And I’ll promise to stop singing AFTER they’ve actually read the cr*p that they’ve been pushing through and talked to their constituents about all the work they’ve been doing “on their behalf”.
