Authorities on both sides of the border are working together to hunt down fugitive reality TV star Ryan Jenkins, Canada’s public safety minister said Saturday.
Canadian and U.S. eyes are keeping a sharp lookout for the Calgary native charged with first degree murder in the death of his ex-wife, Peter Van Loan told reporters north of Toronto after he surveyed damage from Thursday’s severe storms.
“I know they are all taking the matter seriously,” said Van Loan. “They are keeping an active search.”
The manhunt for Jenkins, a former Albertan real estate developer, is centred around Vancouver and British Columbia, where Mr. Van Loan said RCMP are taking the lead in search efforts.
Former model Jasmine Fiore’s mutilated body was found stuffed into a suitcase that was tossed into a suburban Los Angeles dumpster a week ago.
While Mr. Jenkins is considered a danger to the public, Mr. Van Loan said it’s possible the murder suspect may not even be in the country.

This is a case where I will be outraged if he is caught in Canada and we have to insist on the waiver of the death penalty to extradite him back to California. The brutality of this murder and the mutilation to try prevent the body from being identified is too shocking for words. Give him his fair trial but if he is found guilty I can’t think of better grounds for capital punishment.

Agreed.
Innocent until proved guilty… but I hope we find him sooner rather than later…
