"Aww Jeez!"

Obama faces growing anger on the left (2)

Posted by Jack On August - 31 - 2009

finance_thumbBy the time this year’s tally for gay service members discharged under the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy had hit 250, Rep. Alcee L. Hastings said he could wait no longer.

The Florida Democrat decided in June to send a letter to President Obama demanding that the policy be repealed. Mr. Hastings said he was surprised when 76 other members – most of them fellow Democrats – agreed to add their signatures, and even more surprised when the letter went unanswered for the next two months.

“We’re being ignored,” he said.

The president won’t be able to ignore the simmering discontent within his own party much longer, the congressman said, not on this military policy or on a range of other issues on which the president appears to be charting a course that veers away from his political base.

Evidence of this has been abundant in the health care debate, where a core group of Democrats reacted angrily to signs that the White House was getting ready to abandon a public insurance plan as part of its health care bill. But anxiety is growing in other areas, too. Environmentalists dislike the watering down of climate change legislation in the House. Anti-war activists are unhappy with the president’s escalation in Afghanistan. This list goes on.

Holding to positions voiced during an election campaign is always difficult for an elected politician without any principles.

Sure he’ll ignore it , or better still… blame Bush .. wasn’t “no gay left behind” his policy?

The american government’s ‘cash for clunkers’ program seems to have worked and Canada is also benefiting.

American car buyers have turned in droves to fuel efficient cars such as the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic.  The latter which is manufactured at Honda’s Alliston, Ontario plant, consequently it and its local feeder plants are  back to a six day work week and I understand the same thing goes for Toyota’s Cambridge, Ontario plant.
I have yet to see any of that federal infrastructure money in my area.

Never mind the don’t ask don’t tell thing, the left is just angry because Obama’s not wrecking the country fast enough…

Whoever didn’t predict this is just as silly as Obama’s acolytes.  Did anyone read Obama’s list of corporate sponsors?  He answers to the same powers as most other politicians, regardless of whatever facade he puts on at election time.  You will all re-learn that when Sarah Palin’s “populist” successor gets into office.

It’s not his corporate sponsors I’m worried about, except for NBC.  It’s the special interests on the far left of the spectrum that should frighten everyone.

Glenn Beck has done a lot of investigating on the communists and revolutionaries O has appointed as czars or advisors.  Frightening stuff.  It’s a shame his show is on so early.  He’s striking a nerve, because he’s getting a lot of threats.  The worst of the bunch right now seems to be his green jobs czar, Van Jones.

Glenn Beck is a 2nd rate comedian pretending to be a news purveyor.  He whips of fanaticism among the hard right and conspiracy theorists with little regard for the outcome.  If Obama ends up watering any trees, Beck will surely share the blame.

Moreover, a few enviro-nuts supporting Obama pales in comparison to the military-industrial complex, who needs a steady stream of 3rd world civilian blood to ensure their defense contracts.  Those are the ones to really worry about and they’ll likely be funding whoever you decide to gush over.

I stopped listening to anything you had to say, Cynapse, when you started race baiting commenters  a while back… You seriously damaged your reputation with that.

If you’ve ever watched Beck, you would find that he’s an independent, he criticizes the GOP just as much as the Dems.  I’ve been a fan of his since he was on CNN.  He is a protector of the constitution and will criticize all who attack it.

I can tell from your comment that you are basing your Glenn Beck info on what left-wing wackos have to say about him rather than watching for a few months and learning.  That also tells me alot about your thinking processes.

I can’t take you seriously.  I’m sure you’ll say the same about me.  C’est la vie or whatever.

  9. Cynapse Says:

Doesn’t explain the length of that response.

Talking about racism hardly amounts to race-baiting, but someone who knows their darker intentions are coming to light will use the term “race-baiting” to avoid any serious scrutiny.  Easier to make your opponent into Al Sharpton than to confront an ugly truth.  Why should I care whether someone like that takes me seriously (though I suspect you do since you keep responding)

  10. Soccermom Says:

Come on you know you were race-baiting, trying to put a spin on what was said a few times, you cheap floozy.

You’re not the intellectual giant you think you are.  You just need to be challenged a bit on your idiocy every once in a while, although that hardly means I take you seriously.  You seem to jump on every comment I make, too, though, don’t you.

  11. Cynapse Says:

You responded again.  And even made it personal.  2 months after the actual exchange took place, no less. Next time I claim to be a great intellectual, let me know, although I think you’re implying it by my refusal to join the right wing mob in stringing up the first person who uses too many big words or attempts to aid someone “not like us”.  That requires only a conscience, not fantastic memory for Voltaire.

There’s nothing idotic about combating racism.  This is not something I plan to debate, since experience has shown that only experience proves points re: discrimination.  Spend a couple years in Saudi Arabia and I bet your accusations drop by 30%.
