Sleeping Through Speeches

Posted by Jack On September - 25 - 2009

hansonThe President’s UN* talk was more of the same, same old formula: Me, me, me / then Bush blew it / then I came /and, presto, the waters parted.

There is no need to listen to these speeches anymore:

Mr. President, Mr. Secretary-General, fellow delegates, ladies and gentleman: it is my honor to address you for the first time as the forty-fourth President of the United States. I come before you humbled by the responsibility that the American people have placed upon me; mindful of the enormous challenges of our moment in history; and determined to act boldly and collectively on behalf of justice and prosperity at home and abroad.

I have been in office for just nine months, though some days it seems a lot longer. I am well aware of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world. These expectations are not about me….

I took office at a time when many around the world had come to view America with skepticism and distrust. Part of this was due to misperceptions and misinformation about my country. Part of this was due to opposition to specific policies, and a belief that on certain critical issues, America has acted unilaterally, without regard for the interests of others.

I think “acted unilaterally” does not refer to all the allies in Afghanistan and Iraq, but something like simply calling the Poles late at night to say the missile deal is off, and we’re cutting our own deal with Putin.

If Obama is right, and American exceptionalism is over, and we are just one of many, why, then, does he expect to garner the world’s attention and to seek the world’s limelight? What is it about America that gives him, the two-year Senate veteran, such prominence?

Instead of adoring his own image, Obama loves to hear himself talk – about himself. In just 41 speeches so far this year, not including this week’s big speech at the United Nations, Obama has talked about himself nearly 1,200 times – 1,198 to be exact. (That breaks down to 1,121 “I”s and just 77 “me”s.) And that just includes 34 weekly addresses and his seven major speeches. Count the hundreds of other public speeches and he’d be off the charts.

This is getting beyond petty.  Just wait until you get your golden boy in there…

Petty?  Not in the least.  This self-ingratiating dreamer was well aware that when it came to politics he only had a grade 3 education yet he chose to make the jump right up into university anyway.  From the outset many of us watching through unglazed eyes recognized him to be exactly for what he is.   A dangerously naive fool whose ego driven personality and personal agenda driven decision making is jeopardizing the national security of the USA, it’s economy and the survival of that democracy as it is presently known.

“……your golden ‘boy‘?  I think it was a Norman Rockwell painting of two young children,  a little boy and girl both looking inside the front of their pants.  The painting was entitled ’Their is a difference’.    You might be in for a surprise in 2012.

Even better if it’s her.  The irony after hearing 4 years of whinging about empty suits and “you chose him because of his image and nothing else” will provide fantastic ammo.

At least Obama can talk unlike the Bushman who couldnt  properly pronounce words.  Probably why George Junior passed out while choking on a pretzel.  Couldnt do two things at one time and it was rumored that he said after passing out ‘might have gone down better with a beer eh Dick.’

I dont know how these rumors get started.

UV — you and people like you are gong to “wear it” in the not  to distant future.  Obama is the last gasp of the left in the US.

2010 is right around the corner and US voters are about to correct their mistake.

He’s history and so are all the fools that follow him.

Here’s another thought.  Canadian politics bore me to death.

I don’t care what the “left” is doing.  My country is in good hands and I skip over this stuff as the ‘Canadian fringe media’ do their thing.  They are not imporant — Harper is.

    “So — bite me.”

    You lose.
