    I thought this was why the US Feds put their Black Rooms in the Telco’s router rooms – did you think it was to listen in on your conversation with Aunt Mary?
    I thought this was why the ultra-high Internet.2 was being installed – did you think it was so the geographical services could pass around high-density maps?
    The off-switch is the routers.

    If you are interested in a near-future (5 years?, maybe 3) cyberwar fiction book  I recommend Halting State by Charles Stross. I finished reading it at 3AM this morning. And now I’m passing it on to my son – the Network Analyst. I was one also; but I’d never have thought of using cell phones as a distributed network – bot-nets I understood and could combat but cell phones? How could you …. Oh!
