Democrats have found someone worth fighting in Afghanistan. His name is Stan McChrystal.
The other night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went after the commander of U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan, “with all due respect,” for supposedly disrespecting the chain of command. Around the Congressional Democratic Caucus, we’re told Members refer to General McChrystal as “General MacArthur,” after the commander in Korea sacked by Harry Truman.
White House aides have fanned these flames with recent leaks to the media that “officials are challenging” his assessment asking for more troops. In the last two days, the White House National Security Adviser and the Secretary of Defense have both suggested that the general should keep his mouth shut. President Obama called him in Friday for a talking-to on the tarmac at Copenhagen airport.
Though a decorated Army four-star officer, the General’s introduction to Beltway warfare is proving to be brutal. To be fair, Gen. McChrystal couldn’t know that his Commander in Chief would go wobbly so soon on his commitment to him as well as to his own Afghan strategy when he was tapped for the job in AprilWe’re told by people who know him that Gen. McChrystal “feels terrible” and “had no intention whatsoever of trying to lobby and influence” the Administration. His sense of bewilderment makes perfect sense anywhere but in the political battlefield of Washington. He was, after all, following orders.

I’ll say this straight out. Obama fired the previous general and hired McChrystal to take his place. Having done that he never talked to him again personally in many months. All of a sudden McChrystal is front and centre because he gave a speech approved by the Whitehouse but he answered a question wrong during the presentation and the boss called him in because “the boss” was unhappy.
He was causing problems for the “left”.
Meanwhile the US celebrates it’s eighth year in Afghanistan today – over 800 dead — and Obama does not have the least clue what to do because he’s depending on people like Joe Biden who were draft dodgers years ago and who have never been in harm’s way to give him good advice.
This very day he is running around questioning people who gave him advice during his campaign regarding Iraq and Afghanistan when it was “We’ll blow these assholes away”. The very same people he called in today and who recommended McChrystal to get things moving and end it.
THEY (people with no military experience) are the experts now and McChrystal, who has spent his entire life in the military, knows nothing as far as they are concerned because he embarrassed them.
Here’s something to think about.
McChrystal made a huge error in requesting 40,000 more troops. He should have tripled the number (120,000) in his estimate because then he would have had a bargaining point with these fools but he didn’t do that and he gave them a bolthole.
He should also have put pressure on NATO to pick up the slack by pointing out that IRAN is the problem — not Pakistan — and he wants to go after them.
Truth — NATO has the power this very day to destroy Iran’s warmaking ability and Iran — right from the start — has been the problem. You want to know where the roadside bombs are manufactured?
Look at Iran.
You want to know why this war has dragged on for eight years — look at Iran.
Finally, if you want to see the end of it think about destroying Iran’s ability to make war just as happened with Iraq. Destroy their armies and their WMD sites. Destroy it all and then leave.
“It’s not our problem – it’s yours — and don’t piss us off again or we will be back.”
NATO has that power and China will not interfere if it is used because we hold a huge sword over their heads. The west is the market that China and developing countries depend on to progress and make money. If we turn it off because they upset us badly enough (embargo on Chinese goods) the UN will disappear (actually it already has) and the world will be on it’s own as taxpayers in western countries scream “enough” and REFUSE to be the world policeman in the future.
“You’re on your own — our people come first.”
My view — Iran needs to be neutered just as Iraq was and as soon as that happens we will be able to bring our troops home but not until.
Until then we will not be able to make any headway in a country that desperately needs our help (Afghanistan). A country and a world that needs our help.
It won’t end until we get together and start to play hardball.
Think about that because I have and I’m running out of patience and I support our troops. If ”Stan” resigns and starts to go public I am right behind him because Obama is fast becoming yesterday’s news and he will soon be impeached as he continues to boggle US military vet’s minds. I say that because liberals are well known in the great white north for throwing their leaders under the bus when it suits their purpose.
Obama is not in for “four years” — he can be removed if troops are in danger. And I expect that to happen shortly.
Who will take over?
His runnerup — McCain. I don’t know how that will happen but if the US wants to correct the mistake I expect they can.
“You can take it to the bank.”
I say that because in “no way” are US citizens going to give up their way of life because Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barney Frank think it is a good thing to do.
“Fire.Them.All” and US vets need to get on this situation. There are a lot of them.
How must the 800 families feel who have had a family member sacrifice their life for America in Afghanistan? To compound their lifelong grief for the loss of a husband, wife, son or daughter these patriotic families now have to also bear witness to their President, the Commander in Chief, waffling on his often stated committment during the election campaign. That on his watch, if elected, their sacrifices would not be in vain. How demoralizing for the American military overall, but especially those in mortal danger this very day. America could not possibly have done much worse for selecting a person to be CIC than if they had just scooped up a passerby on the street. During his 2 years in the Senate Obama voted 130 times ‘present’ rather than take a principled stand on ‘anything’ and now America expects him to make a decision on how to fight a war! Good luck on that! Obama is destined to go down in history as an unmitigated disaster for America and probably the free world. The frightening part though is the amount of damage he will be able to do before he can be legally removed from office?

What is it about the expression “with all due respect” which allows people to insult, abuse and otherwise denounce someone without any ramifications?
I think the “with all due respect” clearly defines that the respect is to the position or rank but not to the person who holds it. In other words, “I respect your rank General, but I do not respect you.” But with Pelosi (and likely Obama) they probably don’t even respect the rank.
