A billion spent, nothing gained
It’s difficult to imagine a more scathing condemnation of government ineptitude than the report delivered yesterday by Ontario Auditor-General Jim McCarter on the province’s eHealth program.
To date Ontario has poured about $1-billion into its attempt to develop an electronic health record for everyone in the province, which could eventually be connected to similar networks in other provinces for a nationwide databank that would increase the efficiency of delivering medical care, while sharply cutting costs.
It has been, according to Mr. McCarter’s report, an utter disaster. In straightforward, perfunctory terms, he describes a project so brazenly mismanaged it has spent almost a decade creating an $800-million computer network that costs $72-million a year to maintain and operate, but which almost no one uses because there’s little information on it.

Lets not forget the Ontario Liberals EARLIER burned through over $650 MILLION dollars at their first attempt at an eHealth Database.
Just like this latest scandal,after wasting $650 million they also had absolutely nothing to show for the money spent!
What is it about Liberals and their propensity for using huge bundles of paper money as fuel in furnaces ?

Criminal charges against these ‘friends of the Liberal Party’ must be laid immediately, where are the police? Is fraud and corruption not a crime if it’s done by Liberal crooks?

Keep in mind that this all happened during a world-wide economic slump as McGuinty and company steered Ontario into it’s first ever “have-not” status budget…
