Talks to save the world from the catastrophic effects of global warming may fail, President Obama’s climate change envoy said last night.
Todd Stern said pre-summit negotiations had been “too slow” and warned that it was “certainly possible” there will be no deal at December’s Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen.
“This is a tough negotiation. What we need to have happen is for China and India and Brazil and South Africa, and others, to be willing to take what they’re doing, boost it up some, and then put it into an international agreement – where they’re standing behind what they say, just the way we’re standing behind what we say we’re going to do,” he added. He was speaking on the eve of crucial talks in London at the Major Economies Forum, which represents some of the world’s biggest polluting nations and which today begins trying to resolve disagreements ahead of Copenhagen.
A major stumbling block preventing an agreement is about where the money will come from to pay to help developing countries go low-carbon – which could cost $100bn (£61bn) a year by 2020.

Ahhhhhh, my widdle heart bweeds! Now the government and all their incestuous business deals conscripted to “fight AGW” and “save us from ourselves” are going to be scrapped. Who woulda thunk, eh? Wake me up, I must be dreaming.
Wanna go green? Grow dope. It’s recyclable – store CO2, harvest CO2, market CO2, smoke & exhale CO2, grow plants, store CO2……… No violent tendencies, the government will raise trillions, health care workers will be happy to care for smoking related diseases and feed the patient recycled dope to ease the pain of life. Life expectancy will drop, reducing populations. All green inititatives. Win, win.
What these doom-sayers haven’t yet realized is that by punishing the industrialized countries to help the poor is that there will be no money left to help anyone. Or is this just a scam to wreak our society in the name of preventing global warming?

Our best hope for sanity is that getting agreement from so many countries and all their politicians and bureaucrats is almost impossible as each tries to get advantages over the others ! A tragedy if the whole Global Warming thing is true but really a good thing if the theory is wrong ! Given enough delays the Science might actually become science again as opposed to the ” Religion of Manmade Global Warming.

I just finished watching the video. It is inconceivable that any sane leader would or even could sign such an agreement without first holding a referendum by an accurately informed public. Does anybody know if PMSH is leaning towards signing this agreement? All of a sudden the awarding in Copenhagen of the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama might make perfect sense….a down payment perhaps?
