A Canadian citizen living in Chicago has been charged in an assassination conspiracy targeting employees at the Danish newspaper that published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in 2005.
Tahawar Hussain Rana, a 48-year-old Canadian citizen originally from Pakistan, was taken into custody Oct. 18, as more than 100 FBI agents raided his Chicago home, immigration consultancy, and slaughterhouse outside the city.
Charges that Mr. Rana used his immigration business as a front to disguise the travels of a would-be assassin were announced today by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, who is known for prosecuting several high-profile terrorism cases, as well as Canadian media mogul Conrad Black. The complaint had been sealed until now.
Mr. Rana, described by some Chicago Muslims as a former captain in the Pakistani Army before he came to town to open up businesses a decade ago, faces up to 15 years in prison for lending material support to a terrorist scheme. A co-conspirator, David Coleman Headley — who changed his name from Daood Gilani in 2006 — is charged with being the plot’s primary actor. Arrested Oct. 3, he is a U.S. citizen also originally from Pakistan.

Islam is a religion of peace. G.W. Bush.
What a deluded lot we are in the west. I mean that collectively. I know there are lots of individuals who aren’t deluded but no one will listen to them, because they are labeled as racist Islamaphobes. (Here’s a clue, Islam is not a race it is a religion.)

I fear that I have become an Islamophobe because of so many such incidents.
Phobia: irrational, intense and persistent fear. A fear of Islam certainly isn’t irrational from what I’ve seen. You know the cutting off of heads, the threatening of Israel, stoning women for getting raped, the orgasmic chanting of allahu ackbar while they commit atrocities, suicide bombings, going unhinged at the slightest perceived insult. gee… I could go on but I think you get the point. So Cunctator, I don’t think you can be an Islamaphobe.

What we see is primarily what we look for, Mike. An equally impressive list of atrocities and barbaric behaviour could be easily compiled for the Jesus set.
#4 How many centuries ago was that. At least we moved on and they haven’t.
At least all their bombings are killing their own people, and destroying their own infastructure. And, that results in fewer babies over the generations.
Not really. The abortion bombers are still quite active. Moreover, Christian-based armies are still ravaging much of the middle east in the name of “liberation”. NO Muslim nations can wantonly set up shop on our shores and “liberate” us from our own culture (thankfully). Listen to the rantings of a Jerry Falwell type or hardcore Israel-supporting evangelical – you’ll hear the same apocalyptic, end-of-the-world banter we’ve come to associate with Islamists. It’s just done with a smile and they don’t have to resort to crude terrorism. But it’s all fundamentalism.
Cynapse, for every atrocity and barbaric behaviour that you can show me comitted by the “Jesus set” ,I’ll show YOU at least 100 such incidents comitted by the Saracens.
I would just remind readers of what I wrote the other day when a comment argued we needed to stay in Afghanistan to prevent attacks at home. As I said then, the terrorists are already here — first, second and even third generation immigrants — and that the Afghan operation will do nothing to prevent their plotting attacks and, eventually, succeeding. Almost every major jihadist attack on a Western target has been carried out, not by people from Afghanistan, but by members of Muslim immigrant communities. Those people might have trained in Afghanistan, but they did not come from there. The threat, as the article we are all responding to, is much, much closer to home and is a function or irrational immigration policies. Fighting and dying in Afghanistan, regardless of what General Hillier has been quoted in the media as saying, will do nothing — absolutely nothing — to address the real threat we face.
Cynapse, for every atrocity and barbaric behaviour that you can show me comitted by the “Jesus set” ,I’ll show YOU at least 100 such incidents comitted by the Saracens.
Obviously, since you concentrate all your efforts in life on finding non-white transgressions.
And Cy – that makes it alrght?
Nothing with Mr. G is alright. It’s merely tolerated as a non-hypocritical exercise in free speech. If you’ve read the comment section of the National Post lately, you’ll see he’s in good company.
Christians don’t have to blow themselves up when they want to attack their rivals – they just vote Republican. Many more dead with considerably less risk.
Cy Says:
“Obviously, since you concentrate all your efforts in life on finding non-white transgressions.”

Buddy Boy,I don’t have to concentrate ANY effort whatsoever,it’s as easy as picking up a daily newspaper,or watching the news!
Oh the news …
Not even sure where to begin in that response … should I point out that every time the news doesn’t tell you what you want to hear it’s “biased liberal crap” or should I point out that the news you likely watch is the story told by your own with your own interests since you are the one keeping them in business (ie old, bitter xtian guys don’t want to hear about bad things that old bitter xtian guys do)? Decsisions, decisions…
Cynpase, the remark about the Republicans is quite amusing. Nothing like stretching the truth to make a point. However, in US history, Democratic presidents have initiated far more wars than Republicans, and one need only look at Clinton to see how frequently some Democrats will resort to armed force even when self-defence (as perceived by a president) is not a factor.
In US history, the roles of the parties were reversed from the 1960′s backwards. Do you include this in your evaluation?
I bet not, because anyone not asleep at the wheel knows the GOP are the party that loves a good war. This is why defense contractors pour money into their coffers (or perhaps that lobbying is the cause). Nothing Clinton did came even close to this war on terror, nor the bankruptcy-initiating cold war that Reagan waged even as he cut taxes for his greedy, short-sighted acolytes.
In fact, you’ll find more than a few articles from GOP fanboys criticizing Clinton for not going far enough waging war against Osama during his years. Do these need to be dug up for you or can you accept that your response was a bit knee-jerk?
Re: #15 — “I bet not, because anyone not asleep at the wheel knows the GOP are the party that loves a good war.”
No “Cy” — You are looking at a badly disenfranchised party that believes that “911′ deserved a response which entailed more than a few cruise missiles fired into Afghanistan on the authority of Bill Clinton when HE was attacked.
The GOP does not love war but they do feel the proper response is to fight back unlike Obama and the sorry lot that follow him. It’s sorta like fighting with schoolyard bullies. You can give in or you can put their lights out.
It all depends on how you “swing”.
Cy : Your reversal also includes the Dems as the heart and head of true racism in America. Chew on that a bit if we are doing the rearview mirror thing.
What are you talking about? This has to be brought up every time someone clumsily claims the GOP is the abolition party in an attempt to absolve the Southern Strategy generation of any sins. It’s no revelation. I wish GOP fanboys would keep it in mind more often.
