Re: #1. A very interesting article. I would like to see the stats broken down further to differentiate between officers who developed PTSD from domestic policing compared to those officers who served on UN missions, like Bosnia, Afghanistan etc. I’m not meaning to say either one is of any greater value than the other, PTSD is PTSD, no matter what its cause I would just be interested in knowing. My PTSD arose from domestic policing. When I left the force in 1995, some RCMP officers had been to the Balkans and returned and there was some indications then that some were experiencing psychological difficulties.

I’ve known several officers with PTSD of greater or lesser degree. I’m willing to bet the instances are remarkably higher than reported since many of us manage to cope where we could have (should have?) sought professional help…
