Tori murder suspect waives right to preliminary trial

A young woman charged with the murder of 8-year-old Victoria “Tori” Stafford has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

Terri-Lynn McClintic, 19, agreed to proceed directly to trial during a court appearance Wednesday morning.

McClintic is one of two people charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the child’s death. McClintic’s former boyfriend Michael Rafferty has said he will plead not guilty to the charges.

Jeanine LeRoy, the lawyer representing the teenaged girl, said her client made the decision because she is “mentally ready to deal with the matter.”

Her trial date is expected to be set on March 12.
