Evan Solomon interviewed David Suzuki on the CBC the other day about the Copenhagen climate summit.
The whole interview is here. (Go ahead: Drive yourself nuts)
But let’s highlight the bit below, in which Mr. Suzuki explains how Ottawa’s efforts to safeguard jobs and the economy is the equivalent of the U.S. southern states building a society based on slavery. Solomon gives him a chance to backtrack on this (“David, just for the record, and I know you’re passionate, but is comparing this to slavery, is that fair, to demonize the other side like that?”) but Suzuki is sticking to it. Trying to save jobs in Alberta is the same as enslaving human beings.
It’s apparently also the same as the space race, because people thought that would be expensive too, and in the end we beat the Russians, so there! (Note to David: They didn’t finance the space race by closing down Alberta and charging everyone else a big new tax).
Oh, and just to top things off, Mr. Suzuki wants us to know that it’s ridiculous to put jobs and the economy ahead of reducing emissions. It’s more important than jobs. It’s more important than Canada. Canada is just a “rinky-dink” country that got in the way of Kyoto. It’s more important than everything.
Seriously, he says that:

Notes:
I wondered when they would get around to David. It didn’t take long.
More: I watched the video and it appears to have been edited. Does anyone know where the original is?
Found: Ok, here we go. The NP linked to the wrong part of the interview (part 2). Here is Part One.
His comments are disturbing because he is a trusted scientist. If I have it right it will soon come to pass that the local weatherman will have more credibility than these people.

Link fixed. Thanks, Lindsay.
This guy is a joke. Move on, nothing worth seeing or hearing here.
We need to have his charitable status removed. Call Revenue Canada and complain.
MaryT Says:
We need to have his charitable status removed.

We need to have his tongue removed.
Suzuki is right about it all being our fault. This is what we get for closing all the mental hospitals.
A raving lunatic in full cry.
Suzuki is Reason # 433 to pull the 1.1 Billion of taxpayer dollars that CBC get their dishonest paws on.
This guy has made a good living standing on a media platform (CBC) and hurling criticisms. CBC is the only media outlet that employs this guy. The man makes me ill to my stomach.
The left leaning media are simply ‘changing the channel’ to get out of the way of any credible science that does exist. In the linked Suzuki clip, note he’s diverting by referring to the early sixties U.S./Russia space race.
Where’s CBC questioning him on the AGW compromised science involving a couple of dozen scientists from four institutions that have been caught out via the ClimateGate e-mails — now being analyzed?? Then he should explain to the public what kind of flood insurance he owns given his domestic location.
It looks like we have a couple of dozen IPCC scientists operating at the ‘peter principle’ level. They’ve been caught out by approx. 30,000 opposing scientists who’ve committed their names to a petition. One at the U. of Western Ontario to his credit has revealed via a letter posted at SDA what’s been going on along with many others and the lawsuits are going to multiply. Jobs indeed involved there.
What’s at risk is credible science endeavours in every field out there. The benefits will revolve around the present crop of science students, observing and questioning everything out there in their respective fields. U. of Western’s applications should increase based on what’s been revealed because there are many legitimate, committed specialists who are speaking up and that will be noticed by all applicants going forward.
If there’s a signed treaty scheduled for today, it will only involve taxation, nothing more. Obama’s going to get an unofficial award today and that will be the first anti-science U.S. prez in history. That part’s being quashed and N. America is where the EU wants it, suppressed and categorized as a banana republic (the playing field is already leveled.) How America will make a comeback socially, economically and politically is now severely the main question.
