Re: Asbestos, sure it’s abhorrent to us but relative to the diseases that exist in India where there is no piping outhouses or protection from the elements, asbestos concrete is a godsend (especially at the price). We can’t expect rural india to jump to our safe and expensive building materials any more than we can expect to ditch all our nuclear plants en masse and build millions of solar collectors. Sometimes safety is an iterative process.

Ah, now I understand – the Toronto Star gets it’s morality from the lawyers involved in the upcoming law suits, and the science from Wikipedia’s ethical editors. That’s why asbestos has been poping up so much lately.
Am I the only one who knows the difference between black (bad) and white (safe) asbestos – we sell white. For those of you who park in buildings – guess what’s on the fireproof ceilings.
