Terror Suspect Wasn't Considered Threat

WASHINGTON — The alleged Christmas Day terrorist had been in one of the U.S. government’s many terror databases since November, which is when his father brought him to the attention of embassy officials in Nigeria.

However, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab came to the attention of intelligence officials months before that, according to a U.S. government official involved in the investigation. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because it is ongoing.

Still, none of the information the government had on Abdulmutallab rose to the level of putting him on the official terror watch list or no-fly list. On Christmas Eve, the 23-year-old Nigerian — who later claimed to law enforcement that he was operating on orders from Al Qaeda — was able to carry a concealed explosive device onto a U.S.-bound airplane.

‘He wasnt considered a terror threat’ — his father thought he might be and therefore had contacted the FBI  — someone really dropped the ball on this individual.

What scares me is the fact that many officials and media are trying to say that he was not part of a plan, or a plot.  He acted on his own.
So, one day a 23 yr old man, of muslim faith, wakes up and decides, I will blow up a plane.  He then, all on his own, gets the material to make a bomb, he travels to several countries, and then decides, this is the day.  First, I will sew the bomb into my underwear.   That could cause him some problems when he meets his 72 virgins in paradise.
If this was a one time only event, why will all passengers be denied getting out of their seats one hour before landing, be denied blankets and pillows, not allowed any item on their lap.
Who let him thru security, who let him on a plane without a passport, according to someone behind him in line and overheard a conversation explaining that this happens all the time.
Will this attempt finally wake up all those bleeding heart lawyers, and liberals, HRCs,  that just maybe, some people don’t deserve to be allowed into our country.
I guess we should be thankful that no one has blamed Pres Bush or PMSH.

Careful MaryT or you’ll prompt some fool to repeat the stupid fabricated quote that somebody can see Russia on a clear day.

Anyone following the breaking story re another Nigerian man has/did  lock himself in a bathroom, for 2 hours, aboard the same flight 253 , with no luggage.  Plane landed in Detroit.   Apparently he was just a sick passenger.
Same departure city, same arrival city, same flight number, same nationality.
Perhaps it is time for all of us to repeat Natalie Wood, in Miracle on 34th Street, I believe, I believe, I believer-  Well I don’t believe.
Maybe that flight should be put in mothballs forever.

Contrary to a previous post, latest reports has it that the explosive device was hidden in his rectum. Only an x-ray or a DRE would have revealed it!

RE: #6, Explosives up the tail pipe: What could go wrong ……. !

Maybe the ” humid ” environment degraded the explosive but at least it ignited well enough to burn this guy seriously …… Oh, being glad the guy got burned and is hopefully in serious pain or missing body parts does that equate to being in favour of torture if I’m happy about it or hoping that they are not giving him enough meds !

So I guess if someone gets the runs an hour before landing they will get arrested  on landing for running to the bathroom ? I sort of wish for strict security measures but unfortunately we are getting strict and stupid instead of strict and effective ?

Maybe make every seat a toilet seat and nobody will have to get up to go to the bathroom: Sort of goes with the suggestion of ” NUDE ” flying security rules we where joking about yesterday or the day before. LOL

One bomb that failed to explode and every passenger of every flight  will now be subject to more searches, delays and whatever.
And why didn’t the plane come down, killing all on board.  The actions of regular people, not any govt system.   How could that Napawhatever woman say, the system worked.
Is this guy telling the truth when he says there are 25 muslims in Yemen, trained and waiting for instructions to get on other flights.   If that is true, why are passengers in Canada being inconvenienced,  wouldn’t it be simpler and cheaper to ban any muslim from boarding any plane to the USA, from some muslim country.
Just announced on tv, O will finally be making a statement re this failed attack.

Forget the ACLU, political correctness,  fear of being called a racist or bigot, keep them off all planes.
Regardless, the terrorists have succeeded in causing chaos for the airlines.

Setting aside all morality for a minute (as you already have), how do you plan to identify all 1 billion muslims on the planet?  And I wonder whether your filter will be smart enough to filter out Coptic Christians, Sikhs, Druze and other groups that would “look the part” to your scared Nordic eyes?

Moreover, banning flights from all Muslim countries wouldn’t have prevented this attempt, as neither Britain nor Nigeria are Muslim countries.

Only those muslims that are attempting to get on a plane, with a one way ticket and no luggage, and their flight originates from a muslim country known for their terrorist activities.
Hey, how about this for a solution, treat all those with bombs attached to their bodies the same way any bomb threat is handled.  Call the bomb squad and detonate it. That is what they want, to get to paradise and those 72 virgins.
