Two Tory MLAs will cross the floor today to join the upstart Wildrose Alliance, which is hosting a news conference this morning to announce “significant changes” to its team.
Wildrose’s southern Alberta regional director Said Abdulbaki last night confirmed two Tories will today join the fledgling party.
“We’re not saying the names til (today), but there are going to be two Tories crossing the floor,” he said.
“The problem is with the premier (Ed Stelmach)– they have a difficult time with the premier.
“I think you’ll see more Tories going to be crossing.”
A news release inviting media to today’s 10 a.m. Wildrose Alliance announcement at the Sheraton Eau Claire Suites was sent last night.
“Wildrose Alliance Leader Danielle Smith will be joined at a news conference to announce significant changes to the Wildrose’s provincial team, party-building initiatives and upcoming legislative priorities,” it read.
Sources tell the Sun Calgary-Fish Creek MLA Heather Forsyth and Airdrie-Chestermere MLA Rob Anderson are the two crossing the floor.

3:22 pm EST, January 4th, 2010 — Two Calgary-area Tories leave Stelmach government for upstart party
This is about “Calgary” taking back power from “Edmonton” – not yet urban verses rural which will be next. After that it becomes right wing verses “progressives”. The Liberals/ND’s/Greens are not a factor.
WRA will join the Sask Party in returning western Canada to it’s “rightfull” place on the political spectrum. Watch out BC, Campbell has indicated he wants to run again. We need a Dogwood Alliance on the right.
Dear Special Ed:
I know this may be a difficult concept to grasp but we Albertans do not like to be dictated to by bureaucrats. In fact we elect our MLAs to set policy and set direction not faceless nameless bureaucrats. Since you seem to have great difficulty with that concept preferring instead to listen only to your chief of staff might I suggest that you two trade places. We will vote in a chief of staff and let him appoint the Premier. Should that be unacceptable to you may I suggest that you keep up the good work in handing the reigns of power over to a certain Ms. D. Smith. Perhaps she will have the intestinal fortitude to bring the bureaucracy under control.
It was mentioned on Evan’s show today that these two will lose a lot of money by crossing the floor-no committee money, less budget for office and lots of othere cutbacks. Good for them, putting people before pocket books.
There will be more, and lib leader will have to move his office.
