Help, not hate

Since last fall, the federal Conservative government has been withdrawing taxpayer funding from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that use their grants to take sides against Israel in the Middle East conflict. Now comes word that last week, Ottawa told the United Nations it would no longer fund the world body’s Palestinian refugee agency. From now on, Canadian aid to Palestinians will be directed to specific projects. We will no longer give lump-sum aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA), since most of that money simply goes straight into the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) general treasury, where it might be used for humanitarian projects or might be used to arm and train terrorists.

This is a bold move for Ottawa, which is the first Western government to cut off funding for UNWRA.

Although UNWRA has long been a biased player in the Arab-Israeli conflict, it is seldom criticized for its incitement of anti-Israeli hatred and violence by Palestinians. It has funded textbooks that deny the right of Israel to exist and paid teachers who call on Palestinian children to push the Jewish state into the sea. It harbours radical Islamists and anti-Semites on its payroll and was even caught in 2004 using its own ambulances to ferry terrorists away from Israeli sites they had just attacked.

Funny how we’ve sided with the USA and the Jews since 1948 when Palestine was stolen from the Arabs and the state of Israel was created.

You can thank the democrat president Truman for that war plunder resulting in the last 62 years of civil war between muslims, jews and the west in general and inspiring terrorism.

I’m sure Canadians would have given up and accepted the injustice long ago. Not the Arabs.

    Re # 1

Funny how there are more Palestinians living, educated, and peacefully going about their business in Isreal than there are people of the Jewish faith in all the rest of Arabia.  Seems there is a least one group of Palestinians who have their heads on straight.

    It is funny strange indeed!

Educate yourself. Learn the truth about how palestinians are treated like second class citizens by jews in Israel.

You’ll get more and better  information from googling it yourself  than you will from the jewish controlled MSM or our complicit western governments.

Open your eyes to the truth. It isn’t comforting or pretty.

Rob Misek might read more about the history of Palestine and the creation of Israel by the UN. At that time the West Bank was more or less a “no mans land” belonging to no one nation, but was the leftovers from the defunct Ottoman Empire. But why should I go on about this when anyone with a unbiased interest could find this out for themselves.

Canada has just become the first Western government to cut off aid to UNRWA the UN agency that runs Palestinian “refugee” camps and does so much to abuse and radicalize Palestinians and prevent any resolution of the conflict.

While we’re at it why doesn’t our GG propose that the UN be moved from the chic Upper East Side Manhattan to Port au Prince?

She should even head up the UN, then prorogue it and let all the delegates spend full time in Haiti restaurants which could use the stimulus.

It works for me too, nomdeblog.  Magnificent suggestion, also the UN ‘workers’ would have their headquarters in a place that could really use some help from the UN in the form of food, medicine and materials to rebuild.  The latter is the job of the UN, they could do something instead of just yapping; you know, like Mark Steyn said in an article last week, DO something, not talk about ‘we’ (meaning you and me) must do something and then dropping the ball.
