LONDON, Ont. — A Dashwood man banned from driving at least three times, including after a fatal hit-and-run crash in a stolen pickup truck in 2004, again faces serious charges after a chase with police.
And Western Region OPP expressed frustration and anger at the risk to the public and officers.
“I was at the crash six years ago that claimed an innocent life,” said Staff Sgt. Steve Porter, of the highway-safety division.
“I recall how hard the media and public worked alongside my officers to help apprehend the person responsible for the senseless death. I find it extremely frustrating that (allegedly) this same person, six years later has again put the lives of the public and my officers in jeopardy.”
Police said an officer of the highway-safety division was on patrol when he tried to stop the driver of a minivan for racing on Gore Rd. east of London around 12:30 p.m. Monday. The driver of the car did not stop and the officer called off the pursuit out of concern for public safety.
However, a short while later, another officer spotted the van driving on Putnam Rd. “at a high rate of speed.”
The officer tried to stop the car, then watched as the driver went into a ditch in a bid to flee but became stuck. The suspect was arrested.

Notes:
People like this clown need to face the risk of being jailed indefinitely. So far that isn’t happening and the question is “why not”?
I loathe to imagine it but it seems to me that until one of these liberal judges loses a loved one to a careless driver, then maybe, maybe, proper sentencing for these criminals will be imposed.
Liberal ‘judges’ must have a number of dead that they will allow before taking action against killers and the public has a right to know that number. The Crown prosecutor should demand that the ‘judge’ reveal the kill limit when this guy gets up to face his ‘serious charges’.
I remember talking to a cop in Toronto years ago about armed confrontation, his response was telling. “Facing an armed criminal is part of the job, facing that same criminal twice is not. Soon we’ll be like it is in some parts of the US. The cop becomes judge, jury and executioner.”
Like they say, kill any of mine and you deal with me.
