Climate change study was ‘misused’ (2)

LORD STERN’S report on climate change, which underpins government policy, has come under fire from a disaster analyst who says the research he contributed was misused.

Robert Muir-Wood, head of research at Risk Management Solutions, a US-based consultancy, said the Stern report misquoted his work to suggest a firm link between global warming and the frequency and severity of disasters such as floods and hurricanes.

The Stern report, citing Muir-Wood, said: “New analysis based on insurance industry data has shown that weather-related catastrophe losses have increased by 2% each year since the 1970s over and above changes in wealth, inflation and population growth/movement.

“If this trend continued or intensified with rising global temperatures, losses from extreme weather could reach 0.5%-1% of world GDP by the middle of the century.”

Muir-Wood said his research showed no such thing and accused Stern of “going far beyond what was an acceptable extrapolation of the evidence”.

Isn’t this fun?  One climate disaster after another.

Wonder how the history books, to be written in about 10 years, will cover this fiasco.
I can imagine there will be a lot of people asking, how could they have been so stupid and gullible.

There are plenty of examples of liberal “scientists” with political agendas cooking the books to achieve their ideological goals at the expense of truth.

Research Dr. Evelyn Hooker , her “questionable” study on the normalcy of homosexuality and her influence in the APA leading to the declassification of homosexuality as a mental illness.

It is a story of bad science, political lobbying, secret alliances and collusion to pressure peer groups.

Only now, after her death, has the APA finally begun to correct the wrongs done to the profession and all the vulnerable patients by classifying Gender Identity Disorder (GID) .

The overall correction in society will take several more years.

Had we had the smoking gun of her communications, like we do with climategate, many homosexuals since 1973 would have received the treatment they needed to lead a full life.

How could we have been so stupid and gullible?

Andrew Webber, a professor at the University of Victoria, who was a champion of climate change and has written reports for the IPCC, now says the IPCC is not about science…it is about advocating to convince the world that man has created the circumstances leading to global warming and climate change. The IPCC has therefore forfeited any credibility it might have once enjoyed.  So that begs the question, why is PMSH signing any agreement on behalf of Canada relating to any targets or reductions that are associated with greenhouse gases aka manmade global warming?
