Phil Jones, the beleaguered British climate scientist at the centre of the leaked emails controversy, is facing fresh claims that he sought to hide problems in key temperature data on which some of his work was based.
A Guardian investigation of thousands of emails and documents apparently hacked from the University of East Anglia’s climatic research unit has found evidence that a series of measurements from Chinese weather stations were seriously flawed and that documents relating to them could not be produced.
Jones and a collaborator have been accused by a climate change sceptic and researcher of scientific fraud for attempting to suppress data that could cast doubt on a key 1990 study on the effect of cities on warming – a hotly contested issue.
Today the Guardian reveals how Jones withheld the information requested under freedom of information laws. Subsequently a senior colleague told him he feared that Jones’s collaborator, Wei-Chyung Wang of the University at Albany, had “screwed up”.

3:01 pm EST, February 2nd, 2010 — The UN’s enviro-activist in-chief
I almost – almost, but not quite- feel sorry for Phil Jones. He’s obviously being posititioned to be the scapegoat for “inaccuracies” in climate modelling. The British press, who until recently slavishly reported every weather anamoly as a portent of impending, AGW generated doom, now seem to be turning.
But not on the Green / AGW movement – on Phil Jones and a few other, select ex-spokesmen. And therein lies the difference.
In the meantime, the Green “movement” (such as it is) lies low, out of sight, its financiers and supporters carefully sheltered from public scrutiny, waiting for the next opportunity to bamboozle the public into supporting their worldview and their quest for power.
Climategate hasn’t come close to penetrating the public consciousness, yet … but its backers are far from beaten.
This isn’t about climate any more than ObamaCare is about Health. It’s about controlling our wallets and redistributing wealth. The exposure of Climategate isn’t going to deal with the root cause of the problem.
With Climategate we’re just fighting the symptoms not the disease. For example as Jema54 alludes to on another thread : the UN did not want the removal of Saddam because that would be the end of the Ponzi game “Oil for Food ( i.e. palaces)”, a great source of cash flow for the corrupt UN and their despotic partners. What were the roles in this of Desmarais who controls Total Petroleum in France and the roles of Mo Strong and Chrétien and Dion and his dog named Kyoto?
Therefore, let’s expand the disclosure beyond Climategate and deal with the disease which is: transnational elitists who drum up causes to tap into our wallets: Kyoto, cap and trade, oil for food, tax the internet, tax bank transactions …on and on.
This is about elites using strategies to impose cockamamie social engineering on taxpayers and now the elite have been caught lying to us; from Professors in East Anglia to NASA to the High Priests in the temple of the UN. This will have far reaching implications and even the kids, who were brainwashed in our schools with the Nobel Prize and Oscar winning Al Gore, have cottoned onto the idea that their teachers have had ulterior motives.
Meanwhile PMSH needs to try and turn attention to dealing with real environmental issues.
The earth was warmer during the medieval period and our “punishment” was more arable land. The wine crop in England was particularly good, while tropical fruits could be grown in Northern Europe. North Africa had a similar quality of life at the time and trade between the regions was great.
What exactly do we fear?
Some of us don’t fear ‘global warming’ but we do fear the collectists who see “climate change” as the vehicle to wealth redistribution…
