"Tory heaven and laughing at Trudeaupia"

CTV Trainwreck

Posted by Jack On February - 3 - 2010

I’ve been following this stupid organization with a political agenda for years now and I’m getting very tired of them. I never watch them on TV anymore and they are all I find wrong in news reporting in Canada this day.

A major news network that will do anything or say anything that calls our government into question with no regard to truth at all. I simply change the channel or (as today) never bother to watch at all.

Canada deserves better and I’ve decided to take them off my list of links because they are becoming revolting. It seems to me that CTV wants “Iggy” as the next PM and are doing everything they can to see that happen because they hate Harper so much.

No fair reporting to be found here — they are disgusting — and so “CTV is fired”.

You won’t find CTV here anymore.

Thanks Jack … CBC and CTV (National) are “banned” in my house. I do watch the local 6:00 pm news out of Vancouver (that is local for me on the Island). On your advice (?) I have also deleted my favorites link to NationalNewsWatch who seemed to be anti Harper at all costs.

I am watching more and more Fox News and linking to “conservative news blogs” from the USA. If Danny McMillions can get his healthcare in the US, I can get my news fix!!

Fox News and Conservative sites don’t have an agenda?  So really the problem is that they don’t have the right agenda.

    Exactly Cynapse. The wrong agenda.

    Agenda is not the problem.
    Dishonesty is.

As long as there is AN agenda it’s not news.  It’s entertainment and possibly evangelism.  Unfortunately, real news is attacked by all sides for failing to hold up any agenda.  If CBC or CTV are objective, right-wing partisans would still decry their not laying at Harper’s feet and claim they have a liberal agenda (“Either you’re with us or against us”).  For that reason, I just don’t know about Jack’s claim.

I have blocked CTV CBC and Global because of their blatant bias.  If they even attempted to put on opposing views like Fox does I would watch them.  However when it is bash Conservatives even if you have to make it up all the time who cares.  A strong media is important and I am truly distressed that something like Adscam is ignored until it is too big to ignore while Wafergate is headline news for weeks.  2 billion in taxpayers money disappears setting up a data base and the CTV, CBC and Global think it is money well spent.  The government decides that a quasi church organization doesn’t deserve money taxpayers money and CTV, CBC and Global go ballistic painting devil’s horns on Harper.

CTV attacks Stephen Harper and the Conservatives at every opportunity, it’s hard to take any of their ‘news’ seriously.

That’s quite the blanket smear.  Can you back it up?

She is interviewing some babe from the Toronto Star.

Look at how you guys attack CNN, by far the most objective news service on the continent, for not kissing Sarah Palin’s feet.  The only news service you are willing to call objective is Fox, which consists of borrowed AP headlines, Tea Party infomercials, and very loud conservative bullies shouting down meek liberal guests.  This network is quoted, linked and video embedded by nearly every hard right blogger on the continent.  Read the comments on their website and you will constant liberal-bashing, ethnic slurs and Islamophobia galore.  What is “fair and balanced” about that?

Conservatives dismiss nearly major network as the “mainstream media” even though they’ll hoot and holler about how the NewsCorp-owned FOX News has the highest ratings in the United States. How is that not mainstream?

Not a moment too soon Jack. Thanks largely to you and Kate I don’t need a TV. I force myself  to listen to CBC “news” at least once a day so that I know what the sheeple have been fed. Listening to CBC abusing our tax dollars does wonders for my low blood pressure problems. Seriously Jack; thank you for your service both in your previous carrier and this blog.

Welcome to the reality club Jack.  Haven’t had CBC or CTV on in my house for a couple of years now.  Don’t miss them at all.  There are many news sources besides these saps.  Most of my news comes from radio backed up with online stuff.
I laughed at the recent appeals for ‘local TV’.  What a crock!  How come it takes an hour for the local news and then an additional half hour or hour for the national stuff, when the radio news stations can give you the news in considerable detail in 18 minutes or so.  That most often includes the sports headlines and a bit of weather.
    Let them die.

Good for you Jack – I am 100% in favor of your decision because I sometimes do not follow links in case I give those slimes a visitor hit.
I never listen to CBC/CTV for news – like you dlm, I force myself to watch sometimes just to keep up with their drival . I watch powerplay only on U-tube and during Glenn Beck’s commercial breaks.  Today, during one of Glenn Beck’s commercial breaks,  I heard Boob Ray, nephew of  Unca Mo in China (of Climategate /oil for $$ scandals), express a negative opinion about Sarah Palin.  As Premier, Boob bankrupted Canada’s largest province; as Governor,  Sarah made the USA’s largest state debt free and prosperous.  Sarah has a position  on the most watched newscast in North America (Fox News);  Boob is a guest on almost never watched, Powerplay, on CTV.  Poetic Justice.
BTW, I just read at sda, that the Prime Minister has cancelled  spring break and Easter break for parliamentarians;  the house will be sitting though both. The opposition got what they have been demanding and I expect those ‘workaholics’ to be cheering when they get the good news; otherwise they will all be branded hypocrites.

Well, CTV must be doing something right as my liberal friends hate it as well, calling it CTV = Conservative TeleVision and former home of Senator Mike Duffy.

  15. Jean Says:

Re: #14 There may well be a tendency to view media that isn’t on our side as ” biased ”  whenever they seem to be spinning a story negatively from our perspective and by this I mean that a truly unbiased media would at times be perceived as biased by both the left and the right.

With CTV and CBC there have been times when they turned on the Liberals for a short time like at the end of the last election when Dion had a meltdown and with the coalition when the public seemed very negative about the idea. The media also got very negative about Ignatieff a while back but I think mostly because they were disappointed because of his clumsy and inept performance ( flip flops ) and in not seeming to have any policy ideas.

Now with the prorogation thing seen as an effective anti Harper rant the media is pilling on and trying to re-package Ignatieff as a new and improved Ignatieff: And it is working to the degree that the polls are currently too close to call.

As to CTV I haven’t watched the news there in months and the CBC in years, I still have a clue about their spin(s) by looking at their sites or because of links to stories on their sites: I would say that CTV has positive things to say about Harper or the Conservatives about only 20% of the time when they can’t avoid the story and bury anything positive about 80% of the time by selective reporting i.e. not giving any play or very little play. ( Not a scientific estimate, just a guess and how I perceive it ).

RE: # 15 — I agree with Jean.  I do not want my mind clouded by negative thoughts.  In the near future I am am going to “disappear” a view others that bother me.

After all this is a “righty” site.
