While the Harper government has been widely criticized for its stance on climate change, it has not questioned the science behind international negotiations. And, notably, the government signed the agreement negotiated at the Copenhagen conference and has submitted its emission reduction targets as required.
Today, however, in a letter to La Presse (which he says was not seen by the PMO), ex-foreign minister Maxime Bernier defends the government’s approach from the point of view of a “skeptic.”
Some excerpts from the letter:
“Environmental groups in Copenhagen criticized our government for blocking an agreement … and again when Jim Prentice announced our targets at the end of January … But with each passing week we see the wisdom of the government’s moderate position … since December, a debate has broken out in the media over the science of warming, a debate that had been stifled due to political correctness … the numerous errors by the IPCC add to alternative theories of warming that have been put forward over the years.
We now recognize that it’s possible to be a “skeptic,” or at least to keep an open mind about nearly all critical aspects of the warming theory. For example, while no one questions whether there has been warming, there is no consensus among scientists as to its degree.

Climate scientists fight for renewed research funding
Notes:
Until “climate scientists” agree to stop bullshitting us all funding should be cut off. That’s my view.
“A petition, signed by close to 1,400 graduate students and researchers, is demanding new funding for the Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences, which will die without a cash infusion.”
Oh rubbish. You have no power here. Be gone before somebody drops a house on you.
….from the Wizard of Oz
Canada’s hard left legacy media………….. CBC, TO Red Star, Mop & Pail etc. will run wild with this story.
Only 3 things in life are certain.
Death
Taxes
Canada’s legacy media being dishonest
“Mad Max” is my hero.
Way to go Max! He is dashing, debonair and intelligent; goofy fruit fly eat your tofu – Mad Max gets the press, the glory and the admiration of the ladies. Fellas like fruit-fly never have a girlfriend with camera stopping cleavage because ladies don’t like flies – esp the fruity kind.
Jack said:’Until “climate scientists” agree to stop bullshitting us all funding should be cut off. That’s my view.’ That is my view too, Jack. And they howl ‘but we were ‘counting’ all the $$ before Climategate hatched, what shall we do?’ Answer: ‘we, the Canadian taxpayers, ” frankly, don’t give a damn”!’

And there you have it….socialist science…..new funding (from the taxpayer) means jobs. Not jobs that produce anything of value, of course….but hey, what the hell?
MSM still drinking the Koolaid but publishing this in the Globe & Mail is at least acknowledging the debate happening elsewhere even if there their hope that it will just portray the Conservatives as hating the World and wanting us all to die because of Global Warming.
Although not officially ” sanctioned ” by the P.M.O. , and maybe it isn’t ? It may be the first tentative steps to prepare the way to disown the Global Warming if it starts to become a hot potato that all politicians will try to run away from a year or so from now if the whole ” science ” is discredited ! Trial balloon to gage public reaction to turning against the ( potentially disgraced ) sacred cow or at least make the dragging of feet more politically safe if there is an election soon ???
Considering that this is the Mop & Pail the comments section seems at least evenly divided and I like the comment where it was suggested that going to a variety of International news sources might be a good idea for those still only getting their spin on this from only the Canadian MSM.
The CPC has been cut off from any funding from me until we see some leadership on the fraud (not hoax) that is AGW. Today is a start. More of this and I just might open my wallet to them again.
If not I might send Bernier some cash (none for my own MP Hiebert until I see some of the same from him)
Perhaps those researchers can now get theier funding from Kooky Suzuki. Pretty soon he will be the only one left who believes this B.S.
Re: #7. I cut’em off when they refused to deal with the HRC’s, their AGW dance just extends the donation drought.
