‘No idea’ how many missing after deadly avalanche

REVELSTOKE, B.C.- Police began a door-to-door search of hotel rooms Sunday to try and determine how many people are missing following a deadly avalanche in British Columbia, as stories began to emerge of the desperate search for survivors in the hours after the wall of snow came down.

On Boulder Mountain, near Revelstoke, search efforts resumed at daybreak to find anyone still buried under the snow.

RCMP say three people are confirmed dead but they do not know how many are unaccounted for after the slide struck an informal gathering of up to 200 snowmobilers on Saturday afternoon.
