Decision to close offices not political: HRC official

OTTAWA — A decision by the Canadian Human Rights Commission to close offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax is not an attack on human rights, nor is it being done on orders from the Conservative government, says a top official with the commission.

Karen Mosher, secretary general of the commission, said Friday the closures are part of a reorganization that will save about $500,000 in rent, salaries and other administrative costs while having a minimal impact on the work of the commission.

Mosher was reacting to claims by John Gordon, president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, that the closures are part of a pattern by the Harper government to “destabilize” human rights and women’s groups — something that, he said, began when it abolished the Court Challenges Program and closed regional Status of Women offices after winning power in 2006.

The union, which represents commission workers, said in a news release the office closings would make it harder for Canadians facing discrimination, especially new immigrants and racial minorities, to file complaints.

PSAC is trying to promote hatred of the government, that’s normal. But the HRC’s don’t need to save money, their budgets need to be eliminated and that money should go back to the taxpayers who were forced to hand it over.
Did any of the ‘Regional Status Of Women’ offices say a word when crooked Liberals were trying to buy Muslim votes by allowing Sharia Law in Ontario? If they did, then no one heard the little girls. Fire Them All.

Interestingly what saved us from McGuinty’s vote-buying, as he almost adopted the former NDP AG’s recommendation to adopt Shari’ah law, was Muslim women. God Bless those brave Muslim women for standing up and not wanting to be chattels, which is why they came to Canada from their hell holes.

But the way these “progressive” programs like the HRCs work is for the apparatchiks who run them to NOT be motivated by solving problems; instead what they really want is more clients so that they can be more self-important. That’s the perversity of Big Government, it feeds itself.
