Diplomat hammers Liberals over lost principles (1)

MONTREAL — The Liberal party is sacrificing its principles and maybe even its soul in an empty quest to return to power, says Robert Fowler, a career Canadian diplomat and veteran public servant.

In a hard-hitting address to the Liberals’ “thinkers” conference in Montreal, Fowler indicted politicians of all stripes — but particularly his hosts — for putting their own “special interests” ahead of what’s best for Canada and the world.

“To this observer, it seems Liberals today don’t stand for much in the way of principle,” Fowler said. “I have the impression that they will endorse anything and everything which might return them to power.”

Fowler, who was held hostage for more than four months while working in Africa in 2008-09, said neither Liberals nor Conservatives have any ideas to contribute to the international sphere and he’s not sure that Canada deserves to win a seat on the United Nations’ Security Council either.

“We no longer represent the qualities which we Canadians have long insisted candidates for the council should bring to such responsibilities,” Fowler said. “The world does not need more of the kind of Canada they have been getting.”

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff sat only metres away, in front of Fowler, as the party was lambasted.

Notes:

Surprisingly, this article is found in the Star and I tend to agree with a lot that Fowler said. The Liberals ARE selling their souls to the NDP and the Bloc and it IS all about power, not country.

That’s odd Jack, according to Q/P as they show a clippiping of Fowler accusing the conservative of recklessness nothing else.. Yet again, not a surprise for Q/P to do such a thing, they are heavily involve in promoting the liberals-what’s new

    Liberal principles eh? Lemme see…..

Accusations/lies regarding prisoners in Afghanistan! Progrogation lies! Attempted sedition! Brown envelopes! Golf courses bought/sold on paper napkins! Executives in the BDBC fired for not participating in the aforementioned golf course sale! A starter list! Add your own observations.

The participants at this conference should be struggling for family visitation to their institutions rather than conferencing. Likewise for the MPs who were told to stay home.

What a farce! A common truism regarding Liberals? ‘A Liberal with a vision is a Taxpayer with a Nightmare.’ It has always been thus.

Follow the money. The course to money is power. They don’t have any interest in change for the sake of improvement, They only want power for the access to money.

    Nothing more, nothing less!!!

What I find amazing is that no one questions that a former senior public servant should so openly identify himself with one political party. Everyone in government knew Fowler was a Liberal — and his sister married the Liberal Party’s former Maritime kingpin, the late Romeo Leblanc — but for him to come out openly really deserves some attention by the media.

After paying a ransom to free Fowler from al Qaeda supporters last year, Harper should realise that the gratitude of political liberals is fleeting. The government should stop rewarding and promoting other senior public servants who are so obviously supporters of the Liberals. All they are doing is undermining the longevity of their own agenda.

Not only that… david Akins writes that Fowler is a non partison speaking at the Liberals conference. For once I wish David Akin would just print the truth. i had High hopes for him at one time but now I just don”t trust him.

Find principles or find a way to fake having principles more convincingly than currently ?

They certainly don’t have much in the way of principles now and it’s pretty obvious unless one is a committed Liberal voter who has always voted Liberal, and will always vote Liberate, no matter how hollow the Liberals are or reject the Conservatives no matter how good the Conservatives might be.

According to Craig on ctv news tonight, the only dissing Fowler did was to the conservatives. Just because Craig is blind doesn’t mean the rest of us are. Maybe he should have someone read what others are writing.

Re #6: After Climategate this is also proof that at least some of the media are biased, or liars or at best self-deluded and censor the news not by lying so much as selective reporting.

As more and more people risk observing cognitive dissonance the credibility of the MSM start to slide lower and lower as people wonder ” if they lied about this maybe they are lying about many more things “. Lying or simply not reliable sources on which to base one’s opinions.
