Hyperventilating?

In his scathing attacks on Fox News, Don Newman sounds a bit bombastic himself

Fox News? Oh, c’mon, everyone knows it’s a “minaret for America First prejudice” and “hyperventilated extremism” “screeching to the converted” with “the none-too-bright persona of the schoolyard bully.”

So says Christopher Dornan, director of something called the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs at Carleton University, writing in the Toronto Star.

Naturally, the news that Quebecor is planning a Fox of the North has horrified non-screechy fellows like professor Dornan. According to CBC eminence Don Newman, it’s “the absolute last thing this country needs.” No hyperventilating at the Ceeb, thank goodness.

Full disclosure: for the last few years, I’ve guest-hosted for Sean Hannity on Fox News, first on Hannity & Colmes, latterly on its successor show Hannity. Always have a grand time. The money’s not great, but occasionally, if I’m at a media event in New York, Fox’s head honcho Roger Ailes will give me a shout out from the podium and say, “Mark does just a fabulous job.” And sometimes he almost sounds as if he means it.

Whereas Don Newman’s network has never asked me to guest-host anything. When it comes to the CBC, my phone hasn’t stopped not ringing. So take it as read that I’m eaten up by bitterness. For one thing, it’s severely reduced my chances of being governor general.

The cbc was really fair and balanced in keeping an interview on ice till it could do the most damage re CSIS. Oh, and how about Peter asking PM Cameron about coalitions etc and getting the response, PM Harper is a very smart politician and has been very helpful. What worked in Britain would not work in all countries, (Paraphrased) or the ctv guy trying another gotcha question re the new/old police powers, and PM Harper coming back without a pause, I don’t comment on provincial or police matters.
I am wondering, what is the big event in TO for the cbc, this weekend, other than covering the protests and praying for violence and damage.
And how much free booze and food are those journalists consuming while complaining of the cost and lack of variety.
Think of the savings if all those protesters had not shown up with threats to do violence. And they are upset that the police are stopping them.
Wonder how many of them object to showing ID and having luggage scanned if they take a plane.

Just wait until July 1st when ontario retail gas prices go up 8% with the HST. Retail gas prices are very high as it is, around .98 cents per litre in the GTA — This is a tax on a tax on a tax.

What is it with Conservatives and higher taxes? First it was the Malroney GST and now the Harper HST. Who do they think they are, lieberals?

And how will this create jobs when Ontarians will have less to spend especially with the HST being added to the price of hydro and fuels?

    Governments – phooey.

Well good to see that Cassie and UV are eliminated because they function on only one brain cell. Please Cassie go back and find out where exactly I am cheering for the HST. I don’t care about the HST because I live in Alberta where we don’t have a PST or and HST. What I pointed out was the simple fact that since only Ontario and BC are bringing in the HST while Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta are not bringing in the HST maybe the implementation of the HST is a PROVINCIAL matter and not a federal matter. In other words if you live in Ontario and you don’t like the HST unelect McGuinty since McGuinty is the guy who is doing it to ya.

Cassie, you’ll have to forgive Joe as he’s from Alberta (just kidding) One has to wonder at politicians who think they can constantly ‘hood-wink’ voters and get away with it.
On the right hand we have a PM with a minority government and it looks ike its going to stay that way and on the left hand, here in Ontario we have a looney left provincial government, thanks to the Ontario conservatives who cant seem to find a strong leader like former Premier Mikey Harris (with all his warts).
The Queen should be keeping an eye on her own government since, for all intents & purposes its broke. So its off with their heads and bring back the pole tax,
One thing for sure the ‘Harper Sales Tax’ will do and that is to increase the already thriving underground economy here in Ontario.
Probably why the ‘Undecided party’ is growing in leaps and bounds.

Joe gave you the truth, Cassie and UV. Blame your goof Mcsquinty for the HST and B.C. can blame their equally flaky equally incompetent LIBERAL Premier! Remember, the Liberal M.P.s ( under the dictatorship of the Crechin who PROMISED, in his RED book to ‘scrap and burn’ the G.S.T) instigated the GST after the demise of the PC party under Lyin Brian. The GST was designed to replace the Manufacturer’s hidden sales tax – it became a Liberano slush fund and the Manufacturer’s Tax is forgotten.

When you two trade in an old car for a new car, do you demand your GST back? You should because the dealership is going to charge GST on your old car when they sell it. Same goes for second hand stores – they charge GST on used goods, on which the GST (manufacturing tax) has already been paid.

As for gas – the GST is charged on that taxes piled on top of the listed price! Speak to your provincial M.P. BTW, gas sells for 1.27 per litre in the Yukon. We do not have GST, we have no income except transfer payments, we pay no medi care premiums, gument workers get two free trips a year and huge isolation perks on your dime. Wake up! Your next door neighbour pays 7 dollar a day day care, on your dime! Where is your Premier? Why has he sold you out for the big bag of cash he gets from the Feds for the sale on the right of the Provincial set taxes in Ontario? Do you, for one nano second, think that Mike Harris would you out to the Cretin Liberanos? The best Premier B.C. ever had (Vander Zalm – Social Credit) is leading the charge in B.C. (not the Dipper opposition!); where is your Ontario team? Blame the guy who brought you to this horrible place – your own bankrupt Premier and his gang of fools.

It is apparent to everyone that UV/Cassie read only the Toronto centric media because they are completely clueless about politics. For their information there is no federal PC party in parliament. There hasn’t been one for quite a few years now. The Conservative party is the party of tax cuts not tax increases. My GST went down by almost 30% when PM Harper reduced the GST from 7% to 5%. Of course here in Alberta even bringing up the idea of a PST will get you unelected real fast just as Mulroney’s GST got his PC party destroyed. Did you notice that the destruction of the PCs began here in Alberta with the creation of the Reform party? In other words we Albertans don’t put up with crooks sitting in Parliament or the Provincial Legislature. Its one of the reasons the outgoing Premier Special Ed is about to be the outgoing premier of Alberta. He tried to raise taxes on the livelihoods of the average Albertan thus throwing thousands of people out of work. So maybe if you two single firing brain cells would actually do more than read the Toronto news papers you would realize that PM Harper has reduced your tax burden; Premier McGuinty is increasing your tax burden. Don’t like increased taxes? Go after the guy who is increasing them – Dalton McGuinty. Don’t go after the guy who is decreasing them – PM Stephen Harper.
