Wildrose Alliance Leader Danielle Smith appealed to alienated Alberta conservatives Friday to unite behind her and topple the 39-year Tory dynasty, arguing the government has passed its best-before date and that political change is within reach.
In what was the most important speech of her political career, Smith told about 750 Wildrose supporters — including many federal Conservatives — gathered in Red Deer for the party’s annual convention that the Stelmach government is undemocratic and adrift.
She attacked the ruling Tories as a bunch of power-hungry “socialists and liberals masquerading as conservatives.” Smith also questioned the fiscal credentials of a Progressive Conservative government she insists has a spending problem and can’t establish a clear set of priorities.
“They are no longer motivated by doing what is right. They don’t know who they are. They don’t know what they are doing. They have no vision at all. All they are interested in is retaining power at any cost,” Smith told party faithful at her first convention since being elected leader last fall.
“We’ve had enough of a government that doesn’t listen to Albertans, doesn’t reflect our values and doesn’t even to seem to care,” she added. “This is what happens in a province with one-party rule.”

Notes:
I think Libin’s comments are interesting although far off base regarding this situation. The simple truth is that a movement is just as good as it’s leader (check out “iggy”) and right now “Red Ed” is in it (like Dion) up to his ears. I think this convention will be a huge success and it is clear they have the “PC’s” (read “liberals/NDP in drag”) running for cover as they scramble to change their game plan.
Here is simple truth. The Alberta PC’s can no longer be trusted. They will do anything, steal any idea, screw anyone they can to advance a world socialist agenda they are stupid enough to believe in AND as soon as they retain power it will be back to the usual games.
Unfortunately for them Alberta does not like socialism — most are into a “big buck capitalism” world and look at Obama as someone who should be put in a straight jacket and trucked away, never to be heard from again.
“Share the wealth” and all that…
“Yah, right!”
My view is that it’s time to retire the old war horses and give the new kids on the block a chance while the Alberta PC’s sit in the wilderness for a few years and reconsider their beliefs.
Another point: In case anyone has missed it Alberta politics has a huge impact on Canada this day, far outweighing Quebec and we need to keep this big truck rolling.
This situation is a hoot from my vantage point in Ontario.
“You go girl” and people should pick up and watch Glenn Beck in the last video link above. This is what is happening and it is a wonder to behold.
Remember the idea that “Progressive Conservatives = Liberals = NDP = Communists”. That’s my idea and I believe it as I watch the world according to Obama sell out because (this is truth) most voters have absolutely no idea what is really going on as they go to the polls.
It is to cry.
My View: Canada has no use for failed ideas and we are moving on. Alberta leads the way because at least one province is paying attention. We should all do so because it’s our country and far past time to fire the communists. Truth be told the average Canadian voter has no clue as they walk to the poll or answer a poll.
They are not paying attention and in their stupidity (yes really) they are giving away a country their fathers and grandfathers (great grandfathers) died for. It is still going on today because they refuse to learn and hear the lies.
What needs to go up is a huge cry — “F**k you” — and people descending from the Toronto Towers in their millions beating on the G20 protestors.
Won’t happen but it should. There is another alternative to “billions” in money and thousands of demonstrators.
End of G20 protests everywhere.
Fast message to communists not told by their news sources.
“Don’t go there, you won’t have time to protest as you scratch. It’s a real bitch.”
Happy days again.
Another note: I believe Beck and he is correct.
Although he does not say it Obama is a communist and is very busy selling his country out. That may be what he wants but I will tell you this. Canada is not buying his bullshit and if Harper supports him — Harper is gone.
I feel that way and “No” I do not support “iggy”. I also do not support Obama and I have no use for communist ideas. I want Danielle as my next PM and Harper can have a heart attack when he reads this.
Truth be told — “shit happens.”
Everyone can think about that as they contemplate that is exactly how “”Stephie Wonder” got where he is.
No doubt in my mind that Danielle is “next up” and that will really upset fed conservatives.
End of message and having a huge laugh.
Quick entry;
The lady is much like this woman and Harper has a problem. You can take that to the bank and as soon Harper bails out Danielle is his replacement.
You can take that to the bank also. I really like her.
And shes easy on the eyes butt does she speak French?

If she’s an economist who can count ACCURATELY as opposed to a lawyer and or professors who don’t read, by all means. Alberta…Canada’s new capital, the main store, oil that is, black gold. China and Russia in relentless pursuit. My view is no longer optimistic for our country, I’m afraid. We’re looking at conscription to defend it now.
“The lady is much like this woman and Harper has a problem. You can take that to the bank and as soon Harper bails out Danielle is his replacement.”
That could be the case but I doubt it. She, if elected, would split the right and then this country really would be governed like Italy with left/right factions all over the map.
As she stands now, no way would she become PM.
The Wildrose convention was well attended – there were 750 in attendance. Danielle Smith is a dynamite speaker – forceful, articulate and definitely on message. The party has 83 riding executive/boards up and running. The scuttlebutt in the room is that the PC will call an election soon, and that “we” had better be ready. It was an enjoyable weekend, lots of policy discussion and met people from all over the province. The room had members of all ages – young (20 somethings), in between and the over 50′s. Should be interesting times in Alberta. Cheers.
Looking through that party’s platform, they want to strike this section of the Alberta HRC

One wonders who’s doing security at THEIR rallies?
The truth is, what makes the Wildrose so attractive is they are centre right like a good number of Albertans and their rivals are left or centre left. However the biggest strength of the WRA is the weak leadership of the NDP, Liberal and PC parties. The only reason Special Ed was re-elected last time is because the other two (Libs and Dips) were unelectable. In fact most Albertans didn’t bother to vote for any of them. Now that the WRA has credible leadership and acceptable policies it is likely that Special Ed will get his walking papers.
