Wente: Smash and burn and democracy (6)

My stepmother called from Massachusetts on the weekend. She was under the impression that Toronto was in flames. “Are you all right?” she asked. I assured her we were. The only excitement in our neighbourhood was a peaceful protest by a bunch of cyclists who want more bike lanes.

You couldn’t blame her for being worried. TV news always prefers flaming police cars to men in suits. So that’s what they showed – one police car burning, over and over again. That footage must have aired a thousand times. The media even found some victims of police brutality. One young woman related how she’d been held in detention for hours and hours, and all she got to eat was a couple of lousy sandwiches and some bottled water. She called the police “fascists.” Another young woman complained: “I only eat vegan food, so I was hungry for a long time.”

Well, what did they expect? Non-fat soy lattes from Starbucks?

What were a lot of them protesting, poor housing, dirty water, starvation and lots of other so called problems in other parts of the world. Now they can say, hey, we have experienced it first hand, lol. Poor babies, no vegan food-but it seems they all had a mommy and daddy to call on for bail and help.
And how did their mommies and daddies have the money to bail them out, probably by having jobs in those horrible corporations they think should be stopped. And notice the clothes they were wearing and shoes they were wearing.  Do they not realize that most of those items come from some corporation.  Hypocrites, all of them.
Who knew that Toronto was such a city of wimps, from those that stood by and watched and laughed, to the local politicians who did nothing to prevent this.  It was well known what was planned. I still see the face of that guy on Evan’s show telling us what they planned.
Jack Layton should have told his union thugs to stop their planned march as it was a cover for violence.  He could have been a hero, instead he had his wife march with them.

This entire story is “yesterdays news” and I fail to see why any media outlet is continuing to follow it.  Having said that I guess both news organizations are trying to sell papers in Toronto.

My personal view is that the NP should try to start selling papers in the rest of Canada and forget about “hog town”.

We don’t care and they don’t matter.  They can do like Quebec and separate.

    They won’t be missed.

I think we should all separate from Tillsonberg.

But seriously, Toronto isn’t like Quebec because it ships out about $6 billion a year as part of Ontario’s contribution to the repulsive “equalization” payments. Also the Greater Toronto Hamilton area is almost as big as all of Quebec and unlike Quebec it is not shrinking, it’s growing. That’s why we need the $6 billion here. The only problem is, if we gave it to Miller he’d spend it on government unions.
