HARTWELL: Obama aborted the recovery (3)

The Obama administration has declared “Recovery Summer,” basically an ad campaign claiming wondrous job-creation results for $1 trillion or soin stimulus funding. Even more impressive, however, are the steps the administration has taken to destroy jobs at the very time it claims to be focused on their creation. And if we consider the sorts of jobs under attack by the administration, it’s clear there is method to the mayhem.

Many thousands of existing jobs have been killed, and many thousands more that could be created are instead being aborted. In all instances, the ramifications go beyond the jobs themselves; the administration’s actions will have broad consequences for our nation’s economy and global standing.

Obama: ” The Sky is Green, Co2 is a toxic gas, getting deeper into debt is the way out of crippling debt, the new medicare program will actually work, the stimulus is working ……… Why, trust me, because I say so and I believe in magic thinking ” ( Not an actual quote but it does seem like King Canute ordering the sea tide to not rise and expecting it to work ).

The interesting thing and difference with Obama in the article I linked is that Canute seems to have been competent as an administrator except for that little case of hubris and the tide: Maybe Obama can order the oil out of the water of the Gulf. ( Sarcasm: Obama seems to have the Hubris without the competence ).

Only the left could not have seen the failure of Obama’s policies coming from miles off in the distance. They cannot be deep thinkers over there on the left, since they have based the tenets of their liberal progressive theology on the weakest anecdotal evidence and opinion based facts rather than fact based opinions.

Since lefties are willing to accept cherry picked opinions and anecdotal evidence as fact, they can make themselves believe just about anything that they really really want to believe anyway, including that everyone else’s opinion must be wrong because they are mean-spirited and greedy, just like their parents were when they forced the little lefties to earn their allowance by doing chores like keeping their own rooms clean, while their kind-hearted socialist grade school teachers were instead telling them how good it is to share everything, so nobody should be left wanting for anything at all.

This is also why lefties steadfastly refuse to accept that their ideology is doomed to fail. When faced with hard evidence, they just escape into the fantasy world of their wishful thinking where a virtuous knight along the lines of an Obama, or another Tony Blair or Trudeau, will come along and rescue their dream of Utopia from that nasty right-wing reality.

Long past time to grow up already lefties. Reality meet the left, left meet reality. Now shake hands and finally acknowledge one another.

There’s 2 versions of what Canute was trying to demonstrate with the tides. And given his competence of cancelling  the Danegeld tax etc , let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. Therefore the difference between King Canute and King Obama is that Canute was humbly trying to demonstrate to his people that he could not solve all their problems any more than he could roll back the tides. Whereas Obama wants people to believe he is charmed enough to solve anything and if it isn’t solved then it’s Bush’s fault or racist or capitalism’s fault.

It’s quite remarkable how aggressive the media is finally becoming at stating the condition of the Obamarx gang; this is a very short and effective critical summary of the situation by the Washington Times:

“Shall we connect the dots? All across the economy, money is being sucked out of the private sector and pumped into the public sector. Government and union employees are the new nomenklatura, ensconced in more secure and higher-paying but less productive jobs than their counterparts in private business.”

But we could make that even shorter with: the jockey is becoming bigger than the horse.

Obama the man knows he controls exactly zero. on the economic domestic front and internationally as well.  He s the banking cartel s front man, that and nothing more.  The stimulus monies have afforded the green technologies and private banks unprecedented tax dollars for several generations on the hook.  Only short term gain has been considered and the private sector won t respond as the main subsidies recipients.  In other words, there s no plan to create viable paycheques or jobs for the foreseeable decade to come.  Think S. American banana republic and the U.S. public may object, but it won t change — not as long as traditional industries get to do more of the same of at least three decades’ worth performance.

The BP spill ensures the deep south quarter has little to no chance of recovery and will be the main excuse for lack of an economic rebound.  Very convenient.  All planned.  A projection a few weeks ago reported at REDSTATE illustrated how the oil could spread right up the eastern seaboard to offshore NFLD.   What that would mean to the eastern seaboard economy is unthinkable.

Niall Ferguson at the Aspen Colorado ideas conference stated the obvious — only innovation and entrepreneurship can bring America back.  Unless and until small and medium size businesses get the stimulus monies or bank loans, America is looking at a failed state.  The Obama admin is trying to echo China s capitalism/marxist mixed economy.  It neither works for the Chinese proletariat (no freedoms) and it ensures the demise of constitutional freedoms Americans are losing in leaps and bounds.  The elites from both camps need turfing with viable business sector leadership being sought out for replacements.  There are apparently over several hundred U.S. business models that are turning profits BECAUSE they ve reintroduced viable paycheques.  The CEOs over these performing, democraticv enterprises should be sought out as federal leadership contenders as soon as possible.  Tea Party supporters should go after this leadership as number one priority while calling for impeachment of current administration and giving notice to GOP they have nothing different to offer except critiism and more of the same.

In other words, elite dynasties have to be ditched as it was in the French revolution.  Minus the beheadings of course.  The Bushes/Clinton/Obama admins’ corruption records only means more of the same.  And it began with Carter.

Of course. UV  However, Nixon served his purpose which was at the very last moment he approved air support for Israel during the 73 war.  Israel s once again on the front lines of this east vs. west war.  Abandonment of our Western agenda overall, our survival even is at stake though due to Arabs’ determination to convert us all.  never has it been more of a threat and the democratic masses will refuse the honour, even if western leadership considers its benefits.  I believe they are considering the benefits mainly because of the dollars involved.

International trade, commenced under Nixon/Kissinger is here to stay as per our PM’s announcement following G-20.  Quality control and assurances can happen by niche economies — everybody concentrates on their exports’ value to buying markets.  Free and fair trade is for promotion among the internationals.  China, as promised at meeting, must be flexible on the yuan.  Ethics calls for that and then eventually will comply, ceding market share.  They should consider debt forgiveness as well.  Perhaps they already have as they made great profits, particularly since they own the majority of five star hotels in TO.

It s Canada’s oil, gas, mineral resources they re interested in and we profit from sales to China in same way as to U.S. and other markets.  Countries developing their own brand of niche markets CAN be worked out and are.  PM Harper I believe is the bar none main broker because he gained international respect when he held up the apple juice tins with Chinese sourced toxic concentrates in Niagara a few years back.  Same with Russia as he put them on notice re our arctic sovereignty which Putin at time said he’d respect.  The tensions are mounting, but still manageable.

The main detriment to economic recovery IS the green technologies which don t have a questionable, economy destroying record as in CAL and Spain.  They mean only and just “umbrella making jobs” as in Ontario.  What will go up (wind turbines) will eventually have to come down, meanwhile Ontario will repeat the California catastrophic economic failure.  Too bad in the end.  Eight billion dollar deal is done — monies again have left the building.

The question is WHO and WHAT could reverse this very bad business. question mark.  Nom anything at all. Maybe performance records.  question mark

Can McGuinty repeal the legislation under public pressure.  question mark.  WELL CAN HE. Question mark.

Little reported, but notable, is that Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are dissing gov t now and thinking of ways their fortunes can be applied to the people’s means of living wages.  Buffet’s backed new high speed rail.  So the railway business is going to get to reload, creating jobs and carrying products to market.  That s a plus, but years away in the planning and certainly implementation.

  17. Jack says:

Re: #16 — I’m thinking right back to my childhood and recalling that two parties have controlled this country for most of my lifetime.  The first was the “natural governing party” alias the Liberals.  The second was the Progressive Conservative party (alias “liberals in drag”).

Both parties equaled higher taxation to solve all their problems and as all thinking people know higher taxation kills jobs.

There was a reason why I paid out so much all those working years, never saved a cent, barely got by and also a reason why they remained in power so long.

It remains true this very day in my mind.

The governing party MUST occupy the centre in our politics if they wish to govern else they will lose.  You only have to know about what has happened to the Liberals as Dion took over and moved hard left to satisfy his base to understand why Liberals are wandering in the wilderness wondering where it all went wrong.  The very same thing is happening to Obama right now and in my view he and his party won’t survive.

At this time if you bother to watch the polls and put any credence in them at all you will note that Canada appears to be stuck on stupid.  That would be because the left in this country (our media) continue to beat on Harper and his government day in and day out to the complete exclusion of the Liberals and their very sordid political history.  That is what happens when one party controls the mass media.

On the other hand (in the US) they are very fortunate to have the other side of the picture thanks to Fox News.  I note repeatedly that Fox continues to drop Obama and his galloping horde into a world of hurt as CNN and many other “lefty” news organizations find their ratings evaporating as people see truth on the ground and leave for a more responsible news organization.

That “truth” is NOT what Obama is pandering and it is killing him.  People hate being lied to day in and day out and want to hear “the rest of the story”.

In Canada the very same scenario should begin to play out in January if “Fox North” is permitted to begin broadcasting.  And “no” — the CRTC will not have the final word.

Harper will and if I have this government right it will be a happening thing.  It’s long overdue and much like the US many of us will watch and applaud as the CBC, CTV, the Star and many other left leaning outlets lose their audiences.

Regarding your question “Whatever happened to getting  the deficit under control?”.  Be patient — Harper is hard at work trying to break this very stupid political logjam at the moment as he works on gaining a majority but rest assured he will break it in time and then maybe he can answer your question properly.

Like so many Canadians, I have lost faith in all of the federal political parties as none seem to have the right answer like cutting income tax to encourage citizen spending and at the same time, get the governments spending in cheque. In cheque, get it.

The federal government should start by making serious cuts like to the unfair federal transfer payment system, CBC, Bilingualism, cut or eliminate  cultural/social grants, downsize the federal civil service and Crown Corporations etc.

Otherwise, Canadians will continue to vote for minority governments.

Well Nom…the truth is out of the closet now as I must admit to be being a (former) provincial conservative riding President in the eighties under my hero Bill Davis.  But dont tell anyone cause it might upset some of my friends on the left and many more sitting on the fence with myself.

But my support is now with the little guy and pensioners like myself.  I will give Harper some praise by allowing pensioners like myself to pension income split with my better half.  This means that instead of paying more tax money at year end tax time,  receive a respectful rebate.

The bad news is that the new HST - ’Harper Sales Tax’ as implemented by Ontario’s Premier Dalton McTaxever ything is now taking it back on big ticket items like hydro, heat and of course gasoline for my Pinto.  A tax on a tax on a tax.

So I will continue to hammer away every time HM PM Harper takes  left turn.  As for the looney left particularly the LIEberals, I think their entitlement days are over.

The big problem as I see it, is to get voters out to the ballot box cause I hear over and over, ‘their all the same’ and they might be right, promising one thing before elections and delivering something completely different when in power.

I hope I don’t insult you sometime in the future about your hero Brampton Billy. His world was pre-NAFTA and it was fine to be a noble Ontario Premier then, anyone in the PCs now that thinks we can go back to that is too establishment and out of touch with the new reality.

Also, they aren’t “all the same”. McGuinty accused the PCs, that they beat in an election by screaming about of a horrible deficit of about $4 Billion. Then the Liberals raised billions in taxes to cover it, now they have a $25 billion deficit and program entitlements have grown by a reckless 11% per year…a multiple of times faster than the economy grew, totally unsustainable. But is Whodat better? While I don’t think we can generalize they are all the same, we need to get Whodat to earn his credibility and stand for something.

Brampton Billy was the right man for the times as was Leslie Frost and John Robarts.  All great compassionate, intelligent provincial leaders and sadly missed.  ’Old man Ontario’ Leslie Frost was a dear friend to the family living in the Town of Lindsay in the forties and one of the reasons I joined the provincial conservative party of which I’m no longer a member. But thats a story for another time.

That’s because Canada suffers from the same issues that caused 69 million Americans to install a junior Senator with no accomplishments into the White House; i.e. progressivism  promoted by  a left wing MSM and academia dominated by progressives. We hand our 6 year olds over to Dippers and after a few decades we get this progressive mindset that about 64% of Canadian voters still  fall for.

We may have had 3 Conservative governments but now we actually have a conservative government; albeit still not conservative enough.  It’s all in the nose of the beholder. You smell sulfur, I smell success.

The issue is not that we need a new leader or a new star, conservatism cannot be sold like progressivism, it has to be bought by informed voters. The democratization of the media will help, but academia has done generational damage that will take a long time to fix; which is why many of us blog, hoping it will make a tiny impact.
