Spector: It is to laugh (1)

In the current climate, Michael Ignatieff may get away with last night’s speech — as he appears to have in regard to his claim (not since repeated) to having had a “publicly-funded education” in Canada. For one thing, in the village called Ottawa, the date of the next election appears to be the only issue that matters to Harper-hating pols and press alike. For another, in this summer of content across the land, most Canadians are still tuned out of politics. As to the minority who may be paying attention amid shortening days and back-to-school preparations, they’re also likely the kind of people who dismiss most political rhetoric as blather.

Still, if a Toronto Star report is accurate, you have to marvel at Mr. Ignatieff’s audacity in claiming that “the NDP will stand for ‘no darn principles’ if leader Jack Layton and the New Democrats fail to support the long-gun registry in a crucial vote this fall in Parliament.” Actually, the word “audacity” doesn’t quite capture it: Frankly, in light of the history of these two political parties, it’s ludicrous for any Liberal to claim advantage over the NDP when it comes to questions of principle. Whether you agree with those principles or not.

The Ignatieff tour proved outright he’s a consumate actor who missed his real calling.  Claiming he’s “changed” hardly address anything the country needs right now which are VIABLE economic interests, such as medicare streamlining, new accountabilities on the provincial books where redundancies an overuses can be rethought out and implemented.  Huge savings there like the gun registry fiasco meant to cement paycheques only.  There are doctors on top of this and they have great ideas on how to revive the system WITH COST SAVINGS for the future, but keeping the system patient centred and focused.

Having a heck of time right now with Canadian news.

    BORING!!!!!

If you’re on the left you must be frantic.  If you’re on the right “Not so much”.

I happen to be on the right and so I yawn a lot as I go through the Canadian news.  Perhaps in another month things will pick up as Harper fires another torpedo.  Right now he has the same problem I do.

    He’s bored.

If iggy has whipped (whipping is torture) his caucus, has he not made a rule, vote as I say.  Didn’t he say canadians make the rules.  And he made that rule long before the PM made a joke.
Further, any changes he want to make to the registry bill will not be presented until he is PM, so that is another wasted threat.
How many vacancies are there in the HofC now. How many by-elections need to be called within the next six months.
Holland stating today on P&P that the govt will lose this registry vote.
I voted on the Question of the Day at P&P and the no, the rcmp report has not changed my view is way ahead.
