The elites are on a roll these days.
In just the last week, their Toronto chapter foiled the Canadian government’s plan to kill the long-gun registry, even as one of their number — a Harvard educated Bay Street executive — was named the Prime Minister’s chief of staff.
In Britain, the race to lead the Labour Party boiled down to a nail-biter between two Oxford-educated brothers, David and Ed Miliband.
And in Washington, the Republican Party revealed “elites” as the true puppet-masters of politics, in a “Pledge To America” that states: “An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many.”
It is a common complaint, that some special group — call them aristocrats, oligarchs, Patricians, Brahmins, Mandarins, Kohen, Sayyid, Illuminati, whatever — wields disproportionate power over the lives of common people.

Instead of facing the final third reading; the opposition took a COPOUT MOTION brought in by Holland with the aid of the NDP and the Bloc. This motion was a ‘soother’ for opposition mps not to face another debate on REMOVING THE GUN REGISTRY’ which the libs ndp debated and passed the first two readings.
Their constituents I am sure must have waited in anxiety to hear their mps RISE TO VOTE FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE GUN REGISTRY.
The liberals again, makes deals with NDP and the bloc just as they did to form a ‘COALITION’ and the Bloc I am pretty sure-very sure in fact, do not sign deals(contracts) on the Coalition and helping the libs pass their frivolous copout motion, for nothing Jack. The Bloc now can use those two to help them(Bloc) pass any bill of their choice which the Liberals refuse to support in the first place. TICK FOR TAT.
Holland you fool, you aint seen nothing yet.
A National Post letter writer put it like this: “When the rest of Canada uses the term “Toronto elites,” we’re not talking about wealthy people attending galas in limousines. We’re talking about mindset. We’re talking about “progressive” ideologues who make decisions about all our lives because they think they know best, and we’re all getting a little fed up with that. Toronto elites have held the reins too long, and now we would like a say about where our tax dollars go.”
Eloquently stated. Just wait’ll Fox north gets these folks, and not just in Toronto, in its high beams. Doubt no more why they are so deathly afraid. These self-appointed ‘elites’ are many things, but stupid isn’t one of them. They’re all justifiably afraid that what happened to Humpty Dumpty is going to happen to them.
The so called ‘Toronto elites’ are a myth, made up by some to blame their self created problems on someone else.
The only ones that come close to this term are big city lieberals who do not understand Canada, certainly not the west nor rural voters ANYWHERE!
And as long as we have political parties dominated by their leaders and not their constituents, nothing will change and you can take that to the bank, eh Jack?
I also look forward to a new tv network which represents the right side of the political spectrum. But hopefully they will set the bar a little higher than the american one.
It would appear that Canada, similar to America is more divided than ever with Quebec still calling the tune while the ROC pays most of their (social) bills.
People may be confused by the “pic” on the entry. Don’t be…I came across it when I put ‘elites” into Google and checked the images. I guess it’s a game somewhere on the net but nevermind — it suited the story.
Continuing on. I mentioned the other day that there is a lot of chit-chat about ‘elites” on the net lately and most of the comment is not said in a kind way. One might get the impression that the masterbating masses disapprove of ‘elites’ and in response said masses are portrayed as mouth-breathing, knuckle dragging Archie Bunker types by our betters. Rachel Sa weighed in today and she portrays the picture perfectly as she goes after Rob Ford.
My view — Rachel is working for the wrong news organization. All elites should be in the same place so we troglodytes can easily discern where the enemy is.
As I have said many times over the past years: “Liberals, Bloc, Green Party (and whatever else appears) = NDP in drag.”
When you get down to the basic argument on why to avoid them we arrive at the same place.
They are after our wallets — that’s the bottom line — and that is all they care about. They want our money — nothing else. Please note the poor SOB’s in Quebec are all in the same boat as the rest of us as the elite bugger off with the loot.
“So”, as the “troglodytes” come for the elites in Toronto (Google Rob Ford) as well as in the US (tea parties) and Europe (Brown fired) one might consider there may come a day when NOBODY will ever want to become an “elite”.
Personally, I wouldn’t touch that idea with a ten foot pole in the present political climate.
It could be highly hazardous to one’s election chances in the days ahead.
Socialists aim is for the destruction of freedom of speech; freedom to wealth; freedom to live, freedom of religion; and so forth. That done, the Socialists arises with their version ‘SOCIALISM’
The media is the SOCIALIST trump card -report what we tell you or else…..-and as we are seeing the media does as they are told. when the media purposely manipulates the innocent mind of his rights to his country’s news; they are drilled daily with negatives of her(canada).
Anything positives relating to this prime minister and the job he has done for canada both here and internationally is deliberately withheld from the public-only to reinstitute this very story two years later under the media’s chosen parties ‘COALITION’
To see and hear GLENN BECK yell at the media; he yells for us as well.
Well contrary to popular opinion the “toronto elite” is alive and well and living in every major city across Canada. They are the simple minds who slavishly follow the received wisdom of the loony left. Imagining themselves wise while proving themselves fools. Unfortunately for too many years the right in Canada has rolled over and played dead rather than challenge the left’s load of horse hockey. Of course the ‘elite’s’ foot soldiers AKA the MSM have been perpetuating said El Toro Poo Poo of the ‘elites’ for so long their eyes are same colour as the ca ca they have been spreading.
They are after our wallets — that’s the bottom line — and that is all they care about.
Actually, Jack, I think it is far more sinister than that. They already assume ownership of our wealth. Wealth redistribution wouldn’t make any ethical sense otherwise. Nor could they propose social programs such as universal child care without the assumption that they can take and spend our money any way they please. What these types of policies have in common is that the individual is now a servant of the State. Call it socialism or fascism or whatever, I think that ultimately the Progressives hope to strip the individual of as much autonomy as possible. The more they do so the more powerless they are to fight Progressivism. Look at what’s happened to Europe and the EU. The EU is virtually an unaccountable bureaucracy that has stripped its member states of vast amounts of policy making ability. Here in Canada, the Liberals and NDP are both central planners with a sycophantic attachment to the UN which we now know is conjuring up ways of moving towards global governance.
Stop Progressive Fascism, Vote Conservative.
“Elites”, something of a leftover from a time when aristocrats controlled our government bureaucracies in their own self interests, is not always the best term to use. Modern day elites are the “insiders” and “cronies” who make up the echo chambers our politicians and top bureaucrats often surround themselves with, acting as an ideological buffer, isolating our political leaders from the real world, which is why our politicians can so often seem completely out of touch with the needs and wants of everyday people.
For instance, promoting too many like-minded, friends and acquaintances to positions of power as “czars”, is how the Obama administration so easily ended up consistently acting against the will of the majority of voters. This is why it is healthy for Harper to recruit from outside his usual conservative circles and promote a Bay Street corporate deal-maker such as Nigel Wright into his inner circle as his new chief of staff.
However, the G.W. Bush administration also had a tendency towards isolation during its final term, and in what is becoming something of a vicious circle of partisanship, the Obama administration was the result of voter backlash, just as Mayor Miller and his socialist cronies took Toronto too far to the left, and a conservative Rob Ford Mayoralty will be due to voter backlash for having been completely ignored for too long. In causing an increase in partisanship and the wide swings in government ideology that go with it, the “elite” insiders and cronies of today risk causing even worse ethical breaches of the principles of democracy than the European aristocracy ever did.
There is nothing the least bit intellectual about having and exploiting an inside track, which is why “insider” trading is illegal out in the real world of our markets. Corporatism or “crony capitalism” occurs when, in return for political support, our elected leaders, often through their bureaucratic minions, swap favors with unions and corporate entities giving them an inside track, but our free markets depend on competition to work properly, which is why crony capitalism invariably drags an economy down over the long term. We will never rid ourselves of “elites”, but putting limits on corporate lobbying and union influence, while opening up all government contracts to wide competition whenever possible, are the best ways to keep their self interested behaviors in check.
Perhaps part of the confusion is elites versus elitism
We can have elite troops and elite athletes whom we admire. There are economic elites who have considerable wealth but absolutely no interest in politics or ruling. Many billionaires retain their middle class values and loath elitism. However some economic elites are also elitists: Soros, Gore .. .they want to rule.
Elitism is about a 2-class system that has a ruling class in behind the castle walls and the peasants that it taxes, it’s a return to feudalism, and there is no middle class. It is found in communism = socialism= progressivism. The name keeps changing but the goals of these collectivists in different garments are the same: “strip the individual of as much autonomy as possible?
However, we’re onto these One Worlders , these transnational progressives or Tranzis, they can keep changing their name to the innocuous, like “progressive” , but we now know the code, there’s no place to hide.
And when all things fall apart or one cannot get along with his/her master, they dig up the old excuse which is still widely used to this day ‘leaving for family reasons.’
I should add that I prefer the term “political class” to define modern “elites”. Potential political leaders, often from entrenched political dynasties, such as G.W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Justin Trudeau, are often groomed for and financed into their positions of power by like-minded family, friends and associates who have ties to a political class, be it Chicago Democrats, or Quebec Liberals, which helps to pave a way for them, and expects to be rewarded financially, or ideologically, or through reciprocated nepotism, if and when they reach the top. Those of the political class that do not make it to the top, find employment in our many layers of government as representatives, bureaucrats, or unelected advisers and consultants, often repeatedly over generations, as the political class always seeks to expand its own incestuous ties and influence.
Starting out as a means of sustaining European aristocracy when it first became at risk of losing wealth, power, and influence to democratic reforms, the political class has been perpetuating itself for so long in Europe now that national governments are no longer big enough to provide it with full employment, so it has expanded into whole new levels of mostly unelected government bureaucracies of its own making, such as the UN and the EU, feeding its continuous growth on taxpayer dollars.
Re#4: Those darn ” Covenant ” Elites ….. Errrr: I mean ” Coalition ” Elites LOL !
For those not up on their computer games they are from the HALO FIRST PERSON SHOOTER and the Elites are one of the species of Aliens trying to make human extinct.
