Wildrose execs resign en masse

CALGARY – Trust in the Wildrose Alliance has withered for seven of eight executives of the Little Bow constituency association who have resigned claiming flaws in the riding’s recent nomination process.

Former VP of fundraising John Voorhorst, who was also a returning officer for the Vulcan polling station Saturday, say rules regarding mail in ballots were not followed during Saturday’s nomination that elected Ian Donovan, a Vulcan councillor.

“There were eight write-in ballots that the returning officer never saw,” he said, adding they were left in a Calgary office and never delivered to the polling station.

Voorhorst said as a result, the returning officer discounted those ballots and declared Kevin Kinahan the winner, but the decision was overruled by the party president Hal Walker and a provincial committee who proclaimed Donavan as the victor.

“It’s wrong,” he said.

I picked up on this story because it’s everywhere. Not that it means much (it’s a local problem) but everytime something like this happens it’s going to be “Sarah Palin Time” in the media.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this story appear in a Russian paper in the near future.

“Lefties” do that stuff ya know.
