Is ratification of the START Treaty akin to the appeasement reflected by the Munich Pact in 1938? No, it does not arbitrarily divide up a sovereign country in the hope of future peace, but it does reflect the same mindset that justified that process in the minds of those in the 1930's that pined for peace in our time. President Obama went into the negotiations with the Russians determined to get a Treaty at all costs as did Neville Chamberlain. It was somewhat like a customer going into a car dealership and stating that he would not leave until he bought a new car, as so aptly put by Senator Kyl on the Senate floor.
In that head-long rush to wave a piece of paper in front of the cameras, the President has willingly put in jeopardy the future development of a missile defense system against not only Russia, but countries such as Iran, North Korea or other rogue states that will surely acquire offensive missile capabilities in the future.
There are at present up to 10 Republican Senators willing to sign onto ratification based on a letter from the President stating that the U.S. will still go ahead with a robust missile defense program in clear contradiction of what the Russians claim the Treaty says. A question for these Senators: what has the President, who lied about the Health Care Act, the Stimulus, Guantanamo, Taxes and deficit spending, done in the past week that leads you to believe what he tells you now?
Perhaps a future President will unilaterally opt out of the Treaty and do his sworn duty to protect the citizens of the United States; but those that vote for this START Treaty will jeopardize the security of the country for no good reason except the vanity of the current occupant of the White House.

2:17 pm EST, December 23rd, 2010 — Vice Admiral: Obama was outmaneuvered by Russians on START
President Barack Obama was outmaneuvered by the Russians and should have abandoned the New START negotiations instead of seeking a political victory, says former nuclear plans monitor Vice Admiral Jerry Miller, USN (Ret).
“The Obama administration is continuing a dated policy in which we cannot even unilaterally reduce our own inventory of weapons and delivery systems without being on parity with the Russians,” Miller told the U.S. Naval Institute in Annapolis, Md. “We could give up plenty of deployed delivery systems and not adversely affect our national security one bit, but New START prohibits such action – so we are now stuck with some outmoded and useless elements in our nuke force.”
Notes:
People who suspect Russian malfeasance in this picture should research deceased Russian General Alexander Lebed on the net. You may be surprised by what you find. My personal view is that Lebed was not killed in an accident — he was assassinated. By the same people the "Obamaniac's" trust this very day with an endearing passion.
Good luck with that one.
As an aside, those 5 k – 10 k suitcase nukes Lebed was on about. I believe him when he says they are missing and I feel that is what got him killed. He went public about it and got in the way of the wrong people. We all know what happens in Russia when people make that mistake.
Not peace in our time. Appeasement. There is much truth to the saying, "those that forget history are doomed to repeat it". Maybe they don't teach history at Harvard.

It’s interesting how the 2 new victories for the Obamarx gang : START appeasement and DATD are being headlined as Obama being the new “Comeback Kid”
If a poll were taken of what was on the voters’ minds in the November shellacking, these 2 items would hardly register. What would overwhelmingly register is the economy. But on the economy, Obama continues to fiddle while Rome burns. If START and DADT were sooo important, why did the Obamarx gang wait for a Lame Duck to implement them?
Some quotes from the UK Tele “Comeback Kid” article:
"He may seem the 'come-back kid' amongst the chattering classes of the North-East coast and the champagne swilling media parties, but the rest of the USA may be less than impressed."
“If you look at the Republican defectors (8 for DADT and 11 for START), they include George Voinovich of Ohio (retiring) on both DADT and START and Bob Bennett of Utah (who failed even to win the GOP nomination in his state) on START. They’ll be gone in January.
Interesting to note too that Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted for both – she defeated Joe Miller, the Tea Party favourite, in an extremely acrimonious contest. Expect her to remain at war with the Tea Party.”
Oh, c'mon. Obama was SO polite and SO willing to make up for past US excesses: how could the treaty signatories not be impressed?
Or was that amused?
Will the lefties in the MSM ever tire of proving themselves out to be complete and utter asses? This is too funny not to share..

I’ve added a couple of updates people may be interested in. I had my “blowout” yesterday and so will say little else other than I have a firm belief that Obama and crowd are going to “come a cropper” starting in January.
He’s stated he’s looking for “bipartisanship” and a working relationship with the GOP in the days ahead. I wouldn’t bet ten cents on that one after the stunts he and his friends pulled in this lame duck session.
My view — if the man has managed to achieve anything before congress is re-arranged in the new year it would be this.
“He has really pissed off the opposition” and I note that was a very bad idea considering THEY now control his agenda.
