Britain will be hit by longer and colder winters in coming years because of global warming, scientists have said.
Melting Arctic Sea ice has changed wind patterns in the northern hemisphere – bringing blasts of colder air across the UK.
Scientists believe the changes could be why we have been experiencing such a bitterly cold December.
In future we are three times as likely to be hit by bitterly cold winter months because of the changing climate.
Vladimir Petoukhov, who conducted the study at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact in Germany, said the disappearing sea ice will have an unpredictable impact on the climate.
'This is not what one would expect. Whoever thinks that the shrinking of some far away sea-ice won't bother him could be wrong,' he said.

So warming leads to cooling but I'll believe the U.N. climatologists instead of what the cold air is telling me and take a walk outside in shorts and a T-shirt because " It warming you know ….. LOL " ! ( sarcasm ).
I can believe that the atmosphere could possibly do some odd things like localized cooling but a general warming of the Planet but it does seem that the arguments for Global Warming do twisty Cirque du Soleil worthy contortions to logic to always use any observations to confirm Global Warming and it's weak sister Climate Change when the weather is not cooperating and contradicting the " Faith " !
As far as Climate the shocking thing would be unchanging climate since the Earth's climate has never been unchanging ever although some long term cyclic trends towards cooling or warming happen naturally: Whatever the truth about the subject much more effort should be put into surviving and adapting to any possible changes rather than futile attempts to change the weather by throwing money at the problem in ways that all the sacrifices we might make would have minimal or no effect on actual climate.
