Gurney: More fear-mongering from the gun haters

With the battle to save the long-gun registry lost, Canada’s antigun zealots are shifting their focus to a new target (no pun intended). As a consolation prize for losing the registry fight, they want a sweeping update of the classification lists that define whether firearms are non-restricted, restricted or prohibited.

Needless they say, they don’t want to see more firearms classified as non-restricted and subject to (relatively) lax controls. They want as many firearms as possible moved to the restricted and prohibited lists, which would diminish – sometimes dramatically – their availability and utility to law-abiding gun owners. Specifically, they want increased restrictions placed upon “military-style” firearms. Regretfully, they don’t have much of an argument. If we listen to these folks, Canada’s firearms law would be essentially, “If it looks scary, ban it.”

Arguments against military-style firearms prey on the ignorance of most Canadians toward all things guns. As Canada has urbanized, fewer citizens have had cause to responsibly own or use a firearm. This ignorance, honestly come by, has been exploited by those with a political agenda. If Canadians actually knew much about firearms, they’d see the arguments of those who speak out against military-style firearms for what they are – empty rhetoric.

Heard a bit about the rescue of those in the crashed A/C in Vancouver and it occurs to me that the rescuers went above and beyond. Way above and beyond – Consider now if the same logic was applied to someone who was breaking into a home and the same group happened along they would be berated for interfering. They may even be arrested for manhandling the thief/thieves. Perhaps the rescuers should have called the professionals and stood around and waited??

    Just ‘askin’!

It’s “Trudeaupia” and they will, in time, disappear as Canada regains it’s senses.

We’re going to be awhile but Harper is on the correct track. You can’t dismantle a mindset that took forty years to build in a day. My mind boggles as I consider how fast he is “neutering” Canada’s left.

We won’t be forty years killing a “beaver”. I give it four (years) and it will be as if Trudeau never happened. “Boob” Rae has a huge problem on his hands as Canada finally realizes their “Liberal Party” has been stolen by the NDP (he engineered it) and wonders “how the hell do we get out of this mess?”

“Not easily, Bob — not easily.”

      You’ll be awhile.
