Vladimir Bukovksy, the 63-year old former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union. In a speech he delivered in Brussels last week Mr Bukovsky called the EU a “monster” that must be destroyed, the sooner the better, before it develops into a fullfledged totalitarian state.
Mr Bukovsky paid a visit to the European Parliament on Thursday at the invitation of Fidesz, the Hungarian Civic Forum. Fidesz, a member of the European Christian Democrat group, had invited the former Soviet dissident over from England, where he lives, on the occasion of this year’s 50th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. After his morning meeting with the Hungarians, Mr Bukovsky gave an afternoon speech in a Polish restaurant in the Trier straat, opposite the European Parliament, where he spoke at the invitation of the United Kingdom Independence Party, of which he is a patron.
In his speech Mr Bukovsky referred to confidential documents from secret Soviet files which he was allowed to read in 1992. These documents confirm the existence of a “conspiracy” to turn the European Union into a socialist organization. I attended the meeting and taped the speech. A transcript, as well as the audio fragment (approx. 15 minutes) can be found below. I also had a brief interview with Mr Bukovsky (4 minutes), a transcript and audio fragment of which can also be found below. The interview about the European Union had to be cut short because Mr Bukovsky had other engagements, but it brought back some memories to me, as I had interviewed Vladimir Bukovsky twenty years ago, in 1986, when the Soviet Union, the first monster that he so valiantly fought, was still alive and thriving.

I’m not buying this story for a second. Staring into my crystal ball what I do see is investors moving money out of harms way (Europe). That would be the prudent thing to do and it’s going to get worse.

Notes:
The lead column, written by Paul Belien, appeared in the Brussels Journal on February 27th, 2006. ”Old news” but interesting in light of what is now going on in the EU. Personally, I’m not much into conspiracy theories but if you read what Bukovsky had to say “back in the day” and compare it with real time events which are occurring now he becomes very hard to ignore.
More Notes:
After reviewing many stories on the net this day I selected a few (Afternoon Updates) and posted the links. It’s clear that old “Vlad guy” wasn’t wrong years ago and today he must feel like Nostradamus. So he should but if people had been following what was happening in the years “hence” the advent of the European Union (Thatcher warned) this situation could all have been avoided because everyone would have seen what he and “Maggie” were ranting about and reacted.
That didn’t happen because the “left” in many countries focused on the media — whom they bought and now control — and where they now continue this very day their “spin“.
So much for the “LSM”. They should hide their heads in shame as they sell their countries out because ultimately left wing news organizations feeding lies to the motoring public are responsible for what has happened.
This debacle could not have occurred without them.
Not lieing politicians pandering for power — the media who continually echo their stupidity. That situation needs to change and it cannot happen to soon for me. I still want someone to buy the Toronto Star and turn it into a parking lot. They will make a lot more money and Canada will finally be rid of one ‘Red Pest’.
Hopefully, others will disappear also. Forty years of “lefty bullshit” is quite enough for me. We need to move on. I feel their day is almost over and that would be a good thing.
That’s my view. Readers can disagree with me or not.
I don’t care. I’ve drawn a line in the sand and they step across at their peril. I’ve heard enough and in Canada’s situation the “left” is dead (as I suspect many Canadians feel).
We have Stephen Harper to thank for that and he’ll be around as long as he wants to be. The finest Prime Minister that Canada has ever enjoyed. A man that calls things as he sees them (no bullshit here).
Just truth which the “left” can’t handle. That’s their problem — not ours.
And I don’t care.
They are “done” in Canada this day and so it should be in the EU. In case you don’t know — “sympathy” is found in the dictionary between “shit” and “syphilis” and I am all out of it.
I live in the real world, quite unlike the morons pandering this crap.
