Pascal Prokop, a Swiss man, has built a wood-burning stove in his car to combat the severe cold hitting Europe.
Here’s an equation you probably didn’t learn in school: European cold snap + Swiss ingenuity = wood-burning stove in a Volvo.
Europe is being hit by severe cold weather that started two weeks ago, and the Continent’s deep freeze expected to continue until mid-February.
Still, that hasn’t stopped one enterprising man in Switzerland from venturing outside in his slightly modified Volvo. And by “slightly modified,” we mean he took a whole wood-burning stove and put it in his car.
Pascal Prokop, who lives in Switzerland, caused a minor internet stir when photos of his stove-car near Mettmenstetten, a town 25 kilometres south of Zurich, began to circulate on Friday.

Notes:
From what I understand China just bought Volvo. This may be a trial balloon for the “new and improved version”. Keep it in mind as you look at the pictures (huge laugh).
I would also carry a large cache of chocolate – just in case you are stranded. lol Cheers.
I know this is funny but for many years I was a Volvo “slave” and have driven little else in decades.
Recently I acquired a new car as my “400+” miles Volvo (1994) gave up the ghost and I traded it for this. As it turned out I am very happy with this car as it has more “toys” than Volvo can imagine and as I noted to my neighbor (with his help) as I was clearing a foot of wet snow out of my drive this very day (huffing and puffing all the way and very much appreciated) — “I don’t know why I am doing this.”
“I own a car that can go through this “stuff” like it isn’t even there (AWD).”
He laughed because it is true.
“Anyhoooo” — with his help the driveway is now clear and as noted in local weather reports the snow will soon disappear.
“Meanwhile” (and this is important) if you recommend a GMC “Terrain” to a friend and he (or she) buy’s it (0% financing and “zero down”) you will get a 100 dollar gift certificate.
For buyers — if you want a Volvo XC 90 at half the price with far more “toys”you need to pick up. This car is a winner and with proper care will last just as long.
Take it for a drive. You won’t be disappointed because I wasn’t as I barreled through a snowstorm a couple of weeks ago and felt like I was driving on dry pavement. The snowdrifts “weren’t there”.
Neither were the cars in the ditch. I was moving far to fast.
“Finally” — have I mentioned that these cars are being being built in Ingersoll, Ontario at the CAMI Plant.
“No” — but they are — and GMC is literally giving them away this day. I have no idea why.
“Nuff said.”

Too funny — don’t give my wife any ideas. She has a brother who would know how to hook up a snowblower to this car.
We’ll see how that goes as I discuss it with Pete. Maybe GMC should get ahead of the crowd and install a “power takeoff” on said vehicle. Pete likely knows how to do that and if so should patent the idea.
I’ll leave it with him.
I plow my snow the way every biker plows snow
Someone should tell the swede to try a bit of cardboard over his rad next time
Swedes come from Sweden. Swiss come from Switzerland.
Having lived here in Switzerland myself for the last 15 years I am tired with North Americans always replying when I tell them this: “You live in Sweden! Oh that’s a beautiful country.” That would be equivalent to telling someone I lived in Mexico and them confusing it with Canada. As an ex-pat North American myself it is embarrassing how poor the geography is of my fellow compatriots.
