Hector Xavier Monsegur is “Sabu,” the unemployed, 28-year-old father of two who allegedly commanded the loosely organized international hacker team LulzSec.
EXCLUSIVE: It was one of the hottest days of the year and evening temperatures were still sweltering when two FBI agents wearing bulletproof vests under their dark suits climbed the stairs of the Jacob Riis housing complex in New York’s Lower East Side on June 7, 2011. Drenched in sweat, they knocked on the steel door of a sixth-floor unit. It swung open to reveal a man in his late twenties wearing jeans and a white T-shirt.
“I’m Hector,” he said.
The agents were suddenly face-to-face with “Sabu,” the computer genius they had stalked for months, a quarry so elusive they hadn’t pinned down his identity and location until just weeks before. The suspected ringleader of the Anonymous offshoot group LulzSec, Hector Xavier Monsegur and his web minions had just completed a month-long reign of terror, hacking the CIA, Fox, Sony and several financial institutions, causing, according to some estimates, billions of dollars in damage around the world.

Well that’s a piece of good news!! Willful destruction of private and public property just for the H#&% of it, is not a good thing in any way, shape or form.
Agreed. I note that this is just the start of a massive investigation in many countries. Before this is over said hackers are going to feel like a mountain fell on them.
Slightly off topic but ….. A little ” Robocalling ” mischief done in a way to frame the wrong Party would be within the juvenile prank mindset and skill set of anarchist hackers.
No proof of any of this, but just one possible theory.
But lack of proof doesn’t seem to bother some of the Media Party with their speculations !
I’m glad you brought it up Jean. The more I look into and hear about this the more I can come to no conclusion other than it was probably an individual or group looking to undermine confidence in the electoral system as it now exists.
Although it probably isn’t a stance that will be popular with many here – if it was a political party that did it for party gain I hope they hang.
If it was an individual or group looking to undermine public confidence in a system that, in my opinion, is deserving of little – they have my applause.
Jean, I agree. What I find incredibly bizarre about this whole gong show is that the reports always say that whoever was behind these calls (and for that matter, we still don’t really know what the big fuss is all about….sounds a lot like wafergate) went to extraordinary lengths to hide their affiliation. If that is true, why would the “Conservative” (at least according to the MSM) use the same organization that the party itself used? This stinks to high heaven. Look to Avaaz and other scum bag organizations. Avaaz was, after all, behind that phoney G-8 lawsuit during the election campaign. Truth be known, groups like Avaaz and other left wing stooge organizations are the ones that REALLY need investigating.
It seems to me that an old saying holds true: “Give them enough rope and they’ll hang themselves” as I tune in for a few minutes to QP this day. No questions at all so far about the serious problems facing Canada (pipelines anyone).
All we get is screaming from the “peanut gallery” about “robocalls”. “Wafergate” (as Jean mentioned) writ large.
My view — let them go. Nobody is impressed by their continued “railroad track” mindset other than themselves. In four years we will deal with them and they will “disappear” from our electoral landscape, hopefully forever.
Quite unlike the “LSM” and said peanut gallery this site is not easily distracted. All I see this day (and for many days past) is political incompetence on a huge level. The charge for power from the small thinking people of the “left” has never been more apparent and as long as they keep this up they will never see their dreams realized.
Frankly, I’m disgusted with them but that’s just me. I expect far more from the Official Opposition but so far “no cigar”. I suppose it was far to much to hope for considering who has been elected on that side of the House.
“Now” — let’s get back on topic.
