Kheiriddin: We don’t need no solidarity with Quebec students

This Thursday, Ottawa University will be ground zero for the launch of the Quebec-Ontario Student Solidarity Tour. Invited by the Canadian Federation of Students, Quebec student leaders are visiting ten cities to teach their Anglo counterparts how to organize a “Student strike, people’s struggle!”, their overly positive euphemism for the three months of pot-banging, rock-throwing, tear-gas-scented ruckus to which they subjected Quebecers earlier this year.

One can only imagine the topics to be discussed: How to Block a Bridge and Annoy Motorists, How to Shut Down a Metro System and Inconvenience Transit Users, and Naked Protesting 101 (a number of the Quebec marches featured students clad in strategically-placed red squares and little else). Endorsers of the tour include the Public Service Alliance of Canada, Occupy Kingston and, my personal favourite, the Young Communist League of Ontario.
