It’s time for Mitt Romney to invite Sarah Palin to speak at the Republican Convention

And the hits just keep on comin’.

Mitt Romney got backhanded by yet another Republican colleague Tuesday when John McCain denied rumors that he passed over Romney for the ticket in 2008 because of tax improprieties discovered in the vetting process. Rather, McCain assured Politico, his team went with Sarah Palin because she was “a better candidate.”

Oof. Whatever the senator’s intent (certainly there’s no love lost between him and Mittens), talk about handing a bat to Romney’s detractors and stapling a “Swing Here” sign to the guy’s face.

McCain’s remark came at a particularly awkward moment for Romney, given how much of the political world was already buzzing about Palin’s revelation in the current Newsweek that she has yet to receive an invitation to the Republican love-in in Tampa next month. As she coyly observed, “one must remember this isn’t Sadie Hawkins and you don’t invite yourself and a date to the Big Dance.”

Awh …. poor Sarah Palin … is nobody paying attention to her little self anymore? Is she (publicly) unhappy she wasn’t invited to the “big dance”?

Maybe there’s a reason she wasn’t invited, like they don’t want her opening her mouth and talking nonsense.

Agreed. Sarah was always the best pick for the GOP but the “good old boys” were scared to death of her (much like the Democrats). Probably because they know that if she ever gets her hands on the levers of power many of them are going to join the unemployment line. She has promised this and quite unlike “normal” politicians she clearly means what she says. And that’s not the way the “Beltway” works.

Having said that I will add this. Romney is a far better choice than Obama simply because he understands big business which Obama does not.

I have an entry coming up tomorrow written by Roubini which is a “must read”. I do not agree with him that the US is stuck in the doldrums. My feeling is that IF Romney is elected the US economy will turn “on a dime”. People hoarding money right now are in full “wait” mode and small wonder why. As soon as they know someone intelligent has his (or her) hands on the reigns the money will flow and the jobs will return.

But Mitt has a small problem. He needs a Vice President that can help him. Small wonder Romney is having such a hard time choosing his “veep” when a “momma grizzly” is sitting there watching closely everything he is doing. I would also. Grizzly bears make everyone nervous.

Palin is “political death” for Democrats and they know it but what is a presumptive GOP President to do when considering how to handle a “rock star” like Sarah (and I’m sure he is)? On the one hand he can choose her and blow Obama out of the water. On the other he can disappear into the shadows.

Tough call. His political career or his country?

In my view there is no “choice” and Sarah will support and advise him just as she did McCain. I trust her and I want Obama fired. That will happen if he selects her and “no” — the same thing that happened to her when McCain was running will not happen again. The media has already “vetted” her to a ridiculous degree. There is nothing more they can add and the lady has “passed muster”.

        That nightmare is over.

My view: If Mitt selects Sarah as his running mate US Democrats will have a heart attack and I’m certain he knows this. If I were him I would cause that collective “Dem” coronary (with Sarah’s help) because the US is far past the point where Obama bullshit will carry the day.

“Change” is required and Sarah ensures it. Not what “The One” wants but then again he’s never tangled with a Grizzly bear. Time he did. Perhaps he would come to understand what the US is truly all about.

Big MEAN beasties and all that. Obama has never been eaten by a very large bear but there is always a first time.

        Call me “feed the bear”.

        Goodnight.

Were Romney to select Palin as his running mate the Democrats would be turning cartwheels in the streets Jack – she is political death. She had her chance during the last election cycle and failed, and to be whinging now about not getting an invite to the fancy ball is telling.

If Romney is smart he’ll be keeping her, and her advice, at a goodly distance lest he suffer the same fate as McCain.
