VANCOUVER — On the heels of a bitter public spat between Canada’s top Mountie and two B.C.-based officers who criticized him, a new group of disgruntled officers has emerged, sniping at RCMP brass and threatening to expose certain “investigative files” and compromising pictures of members whom it deems unworthy of the uniform.
The Re-Sergeance Alliance announced itself in an anonymously written email to media outlets this week. Claiming to speak for “slightly over 500 members” inside the RCMP’s E Division in B.C., the group apparently formed as two local officers were sending letters under separate cover to Commissioner Bob Paulson, chastising him and other senior RCMP managers for a host of controversies and alleged institutional failures.
“Our Alliance is slowly now moving across the nation,” reads a missive posted this week on its website. “So those of you whom our leadership has ‘Handled’ for so many years, our so-called orchards of ‘Bad Apples,’ we simply state your time has arrived and your corruption is about to see the light and justice of your fellow Canadians.”

My guess is that a lawyer for the force contacted “blogger” and just like that the site is closed. That will only serve to make the members more determined to get their stories out. Gotta stock up on beer and popcorn as this could get very interesting.

For any plan to have even a hope of success any attempt to include damage control had to be thrown out the window and the focus entirely on rehabilitation and healing. In other words full disclosure. Short term pain for long term gain. IMO the rank and file as well as the Canadian public would have forgiven and eventually forgotten if the problem was dealt with openly and honestly. It appears as if the damage control mentality runs deep. The rank and file men and women who carry the badge (including we who used to) are having none of it. RCMP management seem to be ignoring the old truth ‘the coverup is worse than the crime’.
You guys have provided some horror stories in the past. Is there any chance at all of this revolt making a difference?
My guess would be “no”. I’d like to believe differently but, if history is any indicator, the chances of the brotherhood closing ranks against a relatively small number of dissidents is the greater likelihood.
Like mid island mike I’m gonna stock up on popcorn and cold ones – if I had to bet on the RCMP (and the federal government) opening gambit it would be to demonize what they label as malcontents and ner-do-wells within the ranks.
“demonize what they label as malcontents and ner-do-wells within the ranks”
That’s been the RCMP’s MO it seems forever. That’s exactly the attitude that got the Force into this mess in the first place. If senior management are so stuck on stupid that they don’t recognize that fact then they are going to learn the hard way. The rank and file are having no more of if. The dinosaurs with the Hitler bunker mentality will only ensure that when they go down they will take the RCMP with them. This battle is escalating into an internal war that can no longer be contained with threats and intimidation. Bravo to the real heros. The members who are standing up and shouting enough is enough.
Now let’s end the week off on the right note.

Wow, about the same life span as a Fish fly.

Tell me someone snaked it …
In the future if someone wants to put up a dissident blog … use a Russian or Chinese server, please. Blogger and WordPress.com fold like a wet paper bag as soon as they even smell a lawyer coming.
Few probably understand how to go about what you’re talking about, Cy. Count me amongst them. I don’t even know what ‘snaked it’ means, but I assume it means somebody who didn’t agree with it got it removed (although I don’t know how that is accomplished against the wishes of the originator either). If that’s the case then why can’t somebody do the sametime to other blogs ie JNW?
Snaked = Take a local copy that can be uploaded somewhere else later. The Wayback Machine and Internet Archive do this automatically to many sites, but unfortunately not this one
If you see a contentious site in the future and are pretty sure it’s going to be taken down, please consider using this program:

As for JNW … we’re not untouchable, but the location and nature of our host will help a BIT. If Jack and I get really concerned there are other ways to do this ….
