Owens: Questions for White House Over Benghazi Just Beginning

Incompetence. Abandonment. Treason.

It has been a sickening few days for those of us who have closely followed the revelations coming out about the Benghazi terror attack that killed not only Ambassador Chris Stevens and diplomat Sean Smith, but also CIA operators (and former SEALs) Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, who died undertaking a rescue mission — unauthorized — to save the rest of the consulate staff.

We’ve learned about the incredible heroism of a CIA force that repeatedly called for help for as it was being attacked. Disturbingly, we learned that this force had been told to “stand down” twice by their chain of command, and that they violated direct orders to conduct this rescue mission. Our consulate staff was left to die.

Let me say that again: our consulate staff was to be abandoned and left to die.

We’ve also heard claims about why Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi to begin with: some sources suggest this was part of an Obama administration plot to arm Syrian rebels.

We should tackle each of these related issues separately.

For some morbid reason this episode has caught my attention and for the love of God I can not figure out why the Americans are not screaming from the roof tops DEMANDING the resignation of the President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense etc. Abandoning your government’s agents to suffer certain death even though you had the assets to rescue them nearby is unforgivable.

Because most people see this for the hack lynch job it is. I’m not the only one saying so – most people I asked couldn’t care less. To them it’s the cost of doing business in the Middle East / North Africa. There have been worse attacks before (albeit under a GOP pres so I suppose it doesn’t matter) and there will be worse to come.

Put it this way – you guys failed to hang Obama on Fast and Furious so you’re trying this. If it succeeds, every future president with international operations will be in danger of the same fate. War is unpredictable.

Nope, just normal people with stuff to do with their day and who have no bitterness about a guy like Obama being in the White House rather than in its garden.

You are the one on the fringe here. O could have never gotten elected if the majority of Americans were that psycho.

Oh, that’s right. Should have known. Pointing out the alleged dereliction of duty by the Commander in Chief is really just bigotry.

What you should have known is that gross simplifications can go both ways. If people who support true equality of opportunity in the oval office and policies that will push America to the 21st century instead of back to the 19th are “politically correct educated fools”, then those who oppose these ideas at all costs can be similarly pilloried as “backwards bigoted redneck idiots”.

There are good criticisms of Obama’s activities by people who previously supported him. They aren’t thinly disguised bigotry. They are also rarely offered and even more seldom heard.

You don’t strike me as particularly non partisan on this Cy. Very difficult for the public to demand answers if the media ensures the don’t know anything about the scandal. The left loves to put the right on trial in the court of public opinion. The media knows that any hope of an Obama reelection hinges on this story not seeing the light of day.

Which do you think deserves more media coverage. A 30 year old story on Bushs national guard service or the the sacrifice of a US ambassador and coverup thereof?

      Good question Ward.
If the MSM have nothing to hide ,then ask the president for the truth?
Is the MSM afraid of the truth?

The left loves to put the right on trial in the court of public opinion.

Thus the “revenge” aspect of all this Benghazi nattering. You want to get the left back for making you “look bad” (not that Strom Thurmond et al need much help).
That attitude even shows through on the Fox News – complain about left wing media bias so you can exhibit shocking right wing bias

The media knows that any hope of an Obama reelection hinges on this story not seeing the light of day.

    1) The media is not all powerful like you imply. They cannot bury any story of that magnitude and haven’t been able to since the early 90′s. This is simply a non-story being wrapped up in rumors and innuendo by people fishing for a conclusion.
    2) There is plenty of media that act as cheerleader for the GOP, including your beloved Fox, Breitbart, Pajamas, etc. Do they count when you accuse the media of “burying” a story?

Which do you think deserves more media coverage. A 30 year old story on Bushs national guard service or the the sacrifice of a US ambassador and coverup thereof?

Neither deserve much in my opinion, which is probably these stories, along with Obama’s college friends, Bill Clinton’s smoking habits and Bristol Palin’s romantic troubles, occupy very little space in my memory.

Then your memory is selective. The bush national guard story was 24/7 despite the fact it was proven as a fraud on LGF within 24 hours of breaking. Media did not care though.

I guess we can stop the pretense that you are non partisan now.

It is selective and cares not to keep in trivia. When I want entertaining trivia I read TMZ. Dubya’s NG problems had little to do with old garbage his personal enemies were digging up.

I am non partisan, but obviously some things are going to spark a heated reply. Overblown attacks on Obama go well beyond partisanship and into another realm that you all seem steadfast in denying. As long as you continue to do so, you will continue to think the entire world is going communist, when in fact people are just disgusted you haven’t joined this century.

Speaking of joining this century. That also requires being able to stand on our nation’s shores gazing out onto a bright sunny Atlantic Ocean and not wasting one’s life angrily envisioning the sails of approaching slave ships but instead appreciating the beauty of nature’s billowy white clouds. It’s all perspective.
