While we can acknowledge the human cost, this university should close down. What a disgrace that there ever was a "First Nations University" in the first place. If South Africa's apartheid regime had opened a university for blacks or "coloureds", the entire world, including Canada, would have been screaming bloody murder about that regime's racist policies. But we open a university for Indians in Canada and then laud ourselves. Really, the whole approach to the Natives and their problems is quite ridiculous. It would farcical, if it were not so tragic.

There is, of course, another sad aspect of the problem that is not discussed. I wonder how many of the degrees granted by this university would have been regarded as the equivalent from other non-race-based institutions. So, you have a student work hard to graduate from a university that many people will never regard as a serious learning institution, only to discover that outside a relatively small circle his/her degree is not worth much. Given that the value of a degree is affected by the institution one graduates from, that is the great con perpetrated upon students.

The idea that one must court special interest groups or engage in identity politics to be successfel is the lie that breathes life into the Democrat party as identity politics and class envy is their stock in trade.

The only cult alive and well in the USA of any real consequence is the cult of Obama, and his incurious unquestioning supporters.

Google Hispanic radical group la Raza and tell me why anyone should court this group based on their racial origins.

The party that runs on the platforms that is most purely constitututional, and is able to articulate that platform clearly - will attract the broadest base and win the next election.

Continued attacks on Palin demonstrate fully that she is the one the left fears most.

EM: As a side point to your earlier post. I have an autographed picture of Ben on my office wall that I proudly display there.

I too was disgusted by the treatment of Ben Johnson and how the Canadian media and sports establishment used him and hung him out to dry.

I bristle every time I read "disgraced Canadian Sprinter", and they always use disgraced.

Ben gave Canadians - and Canadian politicians and sports establishment types exactly what they were looking for. They could not pile on fast enough to bask in the glory of the moment, and then rather than quietly slip off the bandwagon when it ended, knifed him in the back instead.

5 of the runners in that final have since been implicated in steroid scandals.

I don't advocate what he did but to have Canada suplicate itself at the feet of the international community did nothing for us other than give us a black eye.

Rob: sit back and ask yourself why he should, and if he doesn't why that is somehow against free speech. Is he stopping you from starting your own blog or voicing your opinion?

Richard Warman and the HRC's are doing just that.

I agree with Mac on this one...at first glance the tea party seems a lot like the present Repblican one which doesnt appear to represent all americans except the white religious right.
The U.S. is more divided & financially broke than ever. Similar to Canada along the Francophone power and the ROC divide with Alberta being the present receipient of Quebec's negative attention.

Well Rob just because Ezra believes in free speech doesn't mean that he has to offer opposing opinions on his blog. Free Speech is the ability to express your opinion on your own dime.

years of corruption, year's in which to change, warning after warning. Now the whining will start from the left and the chief's how it's their right to do what ever they want with taxpayers monies. Even if it means hurting the students!

While I have supported Ezra's fight for free speech in the past, I have also noticed his censorship of pertinent posts on his website that criticize the Jewish occupation of Palestine.

I suspect he only supports free speech as long as it serves his special interests.

Still, not everyone who supports free speech is as hypocritical and the truth will expose all lies.

As a matter of fact, I saw a poll that showed that Palin had quite a lot of support among the Hispanic community.
I dont get the idea that there is a cult here. I am not sure of the definition, but if having the support of many like minded people constitutes a cult, then maybe so.
You would be wrong to equate Palin with the Tea Party. Certainly she is supported by many who are also involved with the Tea Party, but she has not sought, not has she been asked to be the leader of that movement. I would define her role there as a motivator, and obvious supporter.
You would also be wrong to equate Palin with the Republican party. She is a registered Republican, but is quite willing to point out where the party has strayed from what she believes are the initial planks in the Republican platform.
We are going to find that trying to categorize Palin , to neatly put her in a political compartment is difficult.
I predict that we will see the Tea Party playing a large role in the mid terms. Scott Brown was a beneficiary of that support. Witness the "money bomb" that brought in a million dollars a day in the last days before the election.
I predict that you will see the Tea Party drag the Republican party back to its roots.
Its fascinating to watch.

If Obama spent $0, it would still take 50 years or more to pay off the debt. You'd be blaming the first non-warmongering president you could find, which means he'd get it anyway.
